Finally, what's really needed on an emergency basis: your WTF response to Biden bashing. It should be shouted from the rooftops, those same metaphorical rooftops that Democrats go to perch on in despair, close to the edge, as they wring their hands over Biden. All of this negative talk builds its own momentum. Trump learned it with his biggest lie. Is that what we want? Building momentum that Biden is so unpopular and disappointing that even Democrats can hardly stand it? A statue to Biden for his "lost cause?" Get over it, Peeps. The way to win is to sell the candidate, the president, not make it seem like he's past his selling date.

I am so with you on this. I have been longing for someone to say exactly what you said.

I've always wondered where we'd go without all the naysayers about Biden. I don't know why they're so against him, except that he isn't Donald Trump, thus giving them nothing to work with, and I think that's exactly the point.

Joe Biden is a quiet, intelligent, emotionally sane man who thinks through all of his decisions, carries them out, and takes the flak from everyone for not being Donald Trump.

Talk about setting up for failure!

No, Joe Biden isn't Donald Trump, thank almighty God in Heaven and earth! He is who is POTUS, not Donald Trump, who should have just slunk back into Mar-a-Lago after killing 300,000 people with his incompetence and sheer flimflam.

No, Joe Biden is better, but you can't tell the media that. Every one of the media wishes he wasn't a caring, decent, intelligent, non-temper tantrum throwing ignoramus who has the brains of a snail called Donald Trump.

I wish they'd get the point and move on from that. Joe Biden is himself, not perfect but by Jesus H. Christ, NOT Donald Trump, which is why he won the election, no matter how the GOP and all their loonies think that it was rigged.

If Donald Trump were to drop dead right now, it would destroy the media's point of reference. They love to compare Biden to Trump, but only in reverse.

"Why is Biden not Trump, and why is he doing his job?"

It is sickening to read, watch and hear. I hope Joe doesn't hear it as much as we do. I'd be depressed if I had his job. Only he has his job, and I wish people would get over that fact.

Total truth. The way he is treated is disgusting. Thank you Lucian.

Also, the Beltway press assumes the 2022 election has already been held and the GOP has already won. Polls don't look great for the Dems at the moment, but actual election results get ignored. A Florida special for the House seat of Alcee Hastings last week didn't show much of a Republican wave. In the usual landslide for the Palm Beach et al District, the Republican share of the vote went from 21% to 19%. Extrapolated nationwide, a two point wing to the Democrats will secure the House. Also ignored was the Ohio Supreme Court esentially handing the Democrats three to five more House seats by killing the GOP gerrymander.

What a huge relief to read this particular column. Thank you!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for every.single.line of this.

And I will just say - the reason the republicans keep being sure they will sweep in 2022 fall elections, is because the democrats refuse to believe we can win. WTF???? I intend to fight like the dickens to make sure we win seats in 2022 - let's all do the same. Keep pushing back! We have a voice! Use your voice!

Thank you for this. My heart aches for poor President Biden who is a good and purposeful soul who truly has the best interests of the country in mind. It makes me so sad and mad when he gets panned even though his successes are many and the changes he's made are great progress.

And "waddling asshole" made coffee go up my nose! I needed that chuckle, so thank you for that.

Where to start? First the media today isn't in anyway the professional bunch it once was. Not that journalism has ever been even handed but todays self righteous, click baiting, at home bunch is less qualified than ever. That's why I'm a subscriber, thank you again Mr. Truscott. I look at statements issued by dems and think you need to get the message out in one sentence and it has to resonate. Biden says Jan 6 was a knife at the throat of democracy. WTF? These people are traitors. Arrest and try them. The words need to have meaning. If you act on your statements people will understand.

oh man oh man, you struck a resonant chord in me, LKTIV, with every point you made. I have stewed and fretted over each and every one of those issues as they float across my screen. I especially skip and ignore the reports of Biden's "tanking" polls, mainly as self-preservation of my sanity and peace of mind.

And I did get a good giggle over "soulless scum suckers ".

Again, thank you and I do look forward to your help in preserving my peace of mind.

This is why I never tune in to NPR. I don't see it as "centrist" at all. They win the prize for "whataboutism" and "false equivalencies" and "glass half empty" reporting in my opinion. You are spot on with this analysis.

One day when the Freedom to Vote Act was still on the back burner and never being mentioned anywhere, I was running through the articles of the day on my browser to see what, if anything, had been reported about it. My BP began to climb as I did, so I decided to conduct a little "survey" of my browser's headlines (it lifts headlines from various and sundry publications and runs them on a banner on the page). I had been noticing an inordinate number of headlines about tfg and none about our president and this day seemed no better, if not worse than usual. On that random day, there were ELEVEN headlines touting something stupid tfg had done or said with his name emblazoned in the headline, one touting Ivanka, one touting Melania, and only TWO mentioning the name Biden in the BODY of the article. That's pretty typical of every day.

So, not only is he trounced for his every move, negated by supposedly "fair and balanced" media, but also literally written OUT of the news nearly every day. Last night on Melber's show, he and a guest (Eugene Robinson?) finally also recognized out loud that Joe Biden is the victim of "ageism" by hosts and guests on many networks.

As you wrote so eloquently: HA! Who is morbidly obese, wears a diaper, lifts, a woman's watch, a hairsprayed pompadour and cannot even string two sentences together? Who cannot write or spell and does not read? Who speaks in jibberish?

On the other hand, Joe Biden is slim, trim, athletic, and could probably talk for hours, if allowed to do so, on any number of topics, with facts and figures and data ad nauseum.

You tell me which one is OLD. There's no contest at all and it has nothing to do with a NUMBER.

Sorry for the rant!

Finally! This should be front page reading from beltway reporters! Bravo

MSNBC...Liberals urge Biden to play hardball...this is getting scary.

Being right is of no value anymore...maybe Trump and DeSantis will devour each other while we watch!

This makes me so crazy. The so-called mainstream media seem to be so afraid of being called liberal that they nitpick the hell out of liberal officeholders while setting a subterranean bar (Barr?) for conservatives, reactionaries, and plunderers like TFG. The Trumpers and most of the GOP lose few opportunities to trash the press and the rest of the First Amendment (except for the part about religion, of course, but they only apply that to Christians), but the press, apart from some commentators, doesn't call them out on it. How to get it through to them that when one major party has turned blatantly anti-democratic, "bipartisan" is not necessarily a good thing? and that caving to the party that wants to suppress the press (along with education, the vote, minority rights, and a few other things) is really bad strategy?
