The morning liars line-up on Fox News.
It’s just one example of the lies being spread daily about COVID vaccines on Fox News, but the one they blasted into the brains of their viewers yesterday on “Fox and Friends” takes the proverbial cake.
It happened after one of the show’s hosts, Steve Doocy gave a little speech urging people who haven’t gotten the shot to get vaccinated. As has been reported ad infinitum, the virus is surging across the deep South and Midwest in states with large populations of Republicans who are “hesitant” to get the COVID vaccine. Less than 40 percent of the populations of Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas and Georgia have been vaccinated. Mississippi’s State Health Officer, the top medical official in the state, announced yesterday that the “fourth wave” had hit the state. COVID cases, hospital admissions, patients in ICU’s, and deaths are up in every state with low rates of vaccination.
I hardly have to make the point that these states are also brimming with Fox News viewers, but there, I made the point just in case.
Into this tsunami of bad news about the virus, and in the face of his colleague’s urging of the Fox viewers to get vaccinated, strolled beady-eyed co-host Brian Kilmeade, who could only have been named better if his name was spelled with two “L’s” rather than one.
“Listen, if you didn’t get a vaccination, that’s your choice,” Kilmeade instructed his viewers. “If you want to go cliff-diving this weekend, you don’t have to check with me. It seems a little dangerous, but I’m not going to judge you. And if you go ahead and put yourself in danger, and you feel as though this is not something for you, don’t do it. But don’t affect my life.”
He said this after admitting that he and his “Fox and Friends” co-hosts had all been vaccinated and were not wearing masks anymore, apparently taking advantage of New York’s new rule that citizens who have been vaccinated against COVID no longer have to wear masks outdoors or indoors. “Fox and Friends” is filmed at the Fox News headquarters on 6th Avenue in New York City.
Doocy chimed in to remind Kilmeade that “99 percent of the people who are dying from COVID are unvaccinated.”
“It’s their choice,” replied Kilmeade bluntly. Doocy attempted to make the point that even unvaccinated people don’t necessarily want to die. He reminded his co-host that L.A. County and other places have reimposed indoor mask mandates even for those who are vaccinated, as they try to stem the spread of the super-virulent Delta variant of the disease.
“It’s not their job to protect anybody,” Kilmeade replied.
He could have been referring to L.A. County government’s re-imposition of the mask mandate, or to those who have made a decision not to be vaccinated, but he’s dead wrong in both instances. It is your “job” to protect yourself by getting vaccinated and wearing a mask when necessary because by doing so, you’re also protecting others.
This entire colloquy followed a long lie-filled segment on the disinformation being spread on Facebook about the COVID vaccine complete with rapid-fire slander of Dr. Anthony Fauci and the Biden administration’s “failure” to reach its vaccination goals.
Kilmeade then reassured all the unvaccinated that they’re only putting themselves at risk, not anyone else, because refusing the vaccine is just like “cliff diving.”
Fox News is quite literally killing people by allowing droolers like Kilmeade to go on its shows and spread this garbage. If refusing to be vaccinated can be compared to anything at all, it’s like driving 100 miles per hour through a school zone. The sad thing is that speeding through a bunch of school children breaks the law. Refusing to be vaccinated and possibly walking around spreading the virus isn’t against the law. And now we know it’s genuine certified approved behavior at the Fox News Channel, where everyone, including owner Rupert Murdoch, is vaccinated but the viewers.
Younger brothers and sisters still smarting over sibling quarrels, anxious to spit and stomp a foot. Saying "No" as a cheap thrill. Fools did this in 1918 and they died. Tragic but not much can be done about it short of brute force. Fox News is a medicine show gaming the angry and making money. That is all.
