Yes, heʻs angered practically every country and everyone in the U.S. (except white male Christian nationalists) with his bullying, bizarre behavior, lying, racism, lack of respect for the law, the Constitution, and the justice system, lack of compassion, greed and just plain stupidity. You could blame it to a great extent on dementia, but thatʻs Congressʻ failing in removing him. He still qualifies as the biggest traitor ever in this country, maybe not by dictionary definition, but he has totally betrayed the U.S. It could be said that heʻs after power and money, but power is just the vehicle to get money. Let’s start concentrating on winning the 4 small states which would give us at least necessary control of the Senate: ME,AK,NE and now MT!The equivalent of only 8 congressional districts! Doable folks and far cheaper than OH,NC,IA,TX, as well as far fewer votes to win? Let’s start focusing on youth registration and turnout in those four much smaller states because winning the House without the Senate gets us NOWHERE as Hecks declare himself Emperor For Life the day after? Winning the 4 smaller Senate races is imperative (as well as two bigger states)! Need to register and turnout only about 200,000 young women plus Black/Brown men in those four to win! Please go to www.TurnUp.US to contribute tax-deductible to their proven success based on protecting abortion rights, gun safety legislation and fighting Climate Change! Let’s win the Fighting Four! We can do it! We must do it or our Democracy is over! Who’s with me?
That's what I thought in 2020 and again in 2024--that voters would come to their senses after witnessing the horror of the first term. We can't take anything for granted.
"Everything Trump touches dies." Like the Republican party hopefully. Is that the silver lining of all this pain and horror? Will the entire party dissolve in the aftermath? Are we witnessing its death for tying itself to this disgusting fool who they knew was lying to them and everyone else, and went right along with it? Those people? Minion like Bundi who may be oh so fucked for the very public lies, etc?
Will we see our own Nuremberg Trials as these pathetic morons are taken to task one by one? The first round of those trials dealt with Hitler's big dogs, but then came the second phase. The one that imprisoned the builders of the prisons and the gas chambers. The functionaries that did the heavy lifting of the horrors. Each and every one of them put on the stand and then executed or imprisoned as the veils were ripped away and the rule of law had its way with them. First time in history. Evil globally held to account. We might get another shot at it, even if it is a bit of a Three Stooges version. No gas chambers yet.
Will there be a cleansing with bonfires of maga bling lighting up the skies as the endless trials bring every disgusting part of the deadly charade to light in living color so there is no doubt, no excuse, no place to hide?
Charles, where did you hear about this. All I can find is the American Accountability Foundation, founded in 2020, entity which is the opposite of what the Project's purpose would be. Perhaps Kirschner's American Accountability Project hasn't reached the point of setting up a website?
"Under the Biden/Harris administration, AAF amassed significant victories in the pursuit of transparency and accountability for the American people, including blocking major nominations and securing the resignations of a series of bad actors.
AAF now works to keep vigilant watch of the DC Swamp in order to protect the interests of the American people and expose the left’s efforts to obstruct, subvert, and sabotage the America First conservative agenda." https://americanaccountabilityfoundation.com/about/
Hello Judith. I heard it on a recent Daily Beast podcast. He was the featured guest. Sounded like something that he just started. Distinct from the American Accountability Foundation.
Can’t find a link for it. Kirschner’s personal website seems to be more about self promotion than any kind of genuine activist group that could move the needle to hold the fascists accountable.
As per not very long ago in 1945 we have an international court in The Hague. Jack Smith came to us from there. The magas are mopes, especially at covering their asses. They drank the coolaid and are easy pickings. Jack Smith must be on the job of holding every one of them accountable in every way possible. How could he not be? Their crimes have been front page news and the truth will out. Til then I have no envy for the poor fools as they slosh and wallow in their swill, dear deranged souls that they are. It's cringy to watch.
Have you seen his behavior over the last couple of weeks?
And STILL the GOP won't invoke the 25th - let alone impeach him.
Sorry to say I think JD is our only hope - if trump gets the 25th, JD is waiting in the wings, ready to get enormous approval by saying "I'm stopping the war! Gas prices are going down!"
As usual, Lucian, your analysis and recitation is spot on. I always thought and felt that Trump ran for president and never expected to win. I think he ran to increase his brand identification and never expected to have to take the office and actually run the country! Typical Trump, when he won, he decided he'd just get in just a minute please and start grifting right away! The only problem was that didn't work! He didn't have any idea how to use the system to make money other than some paltry over charges at his golf courses and his hotel in Washington DC. When he lost to Biden, he didn't quit running and trying to get back in to the oval office. He succeeded, although I personally feel that somehow he cheated and that Harris won but I have absolutely no way to prove that. This time around, he came prepared, armed with immunity from the Supreme Court, and Project 2025 from the hapless Republican Party. The plan was and is to extract the maximum amount of money that he can from the oval office. And that's exactly what he's been doing!
Your thesis is a good one! He probably would drop a nuke if he could make it work! Of course the fact that he's a pariah internationally now would be small potatoes compared to what would happen if he did that. So, it's logical ask what continues to motivate him. Three things! Money, power and respect! The money part is obvious. The power part is obvious also. The Supreme Court created a monster who thinks he can do anything he wants without any repercussion or consequences personally. The last part is respect! I wonder if he really knows or if he's able to process the fact that he will never be respected by anyone again in his life! So we're back to money and power. After the midterms, his power will probably will be severely circumscribed, so money it is! You hit right on the head, Lucian! His family will continue to milk the system for it as much money as they can before they're done. I'm not sure how they will be finished. But I certainly agree with you, if he stays on the axis he's on, money will be his motivator until the end of his term!
God help us if he is not crippled by the midterms!
He ran for president a second time to escape being put in jail, simple as that. He knew that was his golden ticket to immunity. And after that, he would be free to do exactly as he pleases, which is pretty much how it's been for 15 months or so, and continuing until the American people rise up and stop it. March on Washington, national strike, whatever it takes. I'd back a military coup even, but our military hasn't the spirit of patriotism to really obey the Constitution and do what is necessary to defend it.
Piggy and Bibi are in the same place, they know that once out of office the prosecutions they've put off will resume. Of course they're both so old that endless appeals will prevent any sentence. Meanwhile grift on and rival Putin for wealth accumulation.
I'm pretty sure muck switched votes in the computer in Pennsylvania. He spent too much time fooling around in PA. If his family gets out of this without all the adults in jail for life and the kids given to families with no actual connections to crime, there is no justice in this world.
What a frightful situation. There's nothing any of us can do but pray for the intercession of The Maker to strike him down before nuclear disaster follows.
What can we atheists do? Participating in a No Kings march can't hurt, but I am skeptical that it can do much good, beyond making the participants feel good momentarily.
At a certain point (I think I saw 3.5% of the population as the relevant figure) supposedly even the recalcitrant, cowardly Republicans are going to have to take notice. I think the goal for the No Kings rally is 11 million nationwide. The last one was over 7 million, IIRC. We can reach that level of participation.
I'm not sure how that 3.5% calculation would effect the changes we need but I believe we may come close to 3.5% turnout given how many of us are being impacted in many ways by the increasing costs of living, including but not limited to gasoline and diesel prices. Almost everything we buy is delivered by trucks requiring diesel fuel. This especially includes groceries.
These protest marches serve valuable purposes such as reinforcing that there's massive opposition to the U.S. regime, spreading the word visibly that hundreds of millions of U.S. residents strongly oppose this regime and encouraging those who may not yet have become mobilized in various ways as 2026 primaries go forward toward the 2026 midterms, countering a tendency among some to sit at home and feel hopeles. Not to mention how these protests enrage the current president.
Henry, joining the rest of us out marching demonstrates resolve, and supports everybody else that's there as well as everyone else in the country that's doing the same thing. There really is strength in numbers.
I saw an article from an expert that keeps track of things like removing polling places in urban districts, democratic cities, college towns, mail-in voting counts etc. He claims Harris would have won by 750,000 votes in the swing states if not for voter suppression. Trump did thank Musk for PA, wink, wink.
That he would even consider the use of a nuclear weapon makes him certifiably insane. The only thing keeping him in office is the lack of courage in the entire Republican Party. I think I can come up with a use for all those DHS warehouses. We're going to need them to hold all the regime pre-trial.
As 47 loves Florida so much I propose the facility in the Everglades. During hurricane season. With no mosquito patrol. And powdered eggs with bugs. And…
Apparently Trump thinks he can end the war with Iran any time he wants. But ... Israel? But ... Iran? He may be shocked to learn that he alone is not in charge of how the hostilities play out.
Greed will not save us. Only voting the MAGA Cult out of office will save us. The vote has to be large enough to be able to impeach Trump, Vance and his cabinet.
Let's see how he squirms out of this world wide disaster he has unleashed and whose fault it will be - because it is never his. He's got too many plates (lies) spinning on the sticks now!
Scary times indeed, Mr. Truscott. I’m not sure how things will fall when it’s “I love money!” vs “I love things going boom!” but I don’t like our chances.
Donnie's problem is that Donnie doesn't hold all the cards. Yesterday, Israel dropped a bomb on an old cooling tank 200 yds. from an Iranian nuclear reactor. If the Israelis bomb that reactor, the radiation plume basically kills the UAE. No doubt that Iran would retaliate by hitting Israel's reactor. Another radiation plume. To quote the Admiral in "The Hunt for Red October": " This will get out of control! This will get out of control and we'll be lucky to live through it."
Do you think Stanley Weiser and Oliver Stone, who wrote the "Greed is good" line in the movie "Wall Street" are wearing "I told you so" lapel pins? Great column, of course, with a provocative sentence: "There is only one thing Donald Trump loves more than political power, and that is money." Leave aside the question of whether he actually loves 'political' power, since "politics" requires someone to do things he loathes -- negotiate, deal with people who oppose you, to name a couple. (Absolute) power, sure. But what about the third leg of T***p's psychological "stool" (word very specifically chosen). Mr. "accused-by-how-many-of-sexual-assault?" doesn't have the opportunities he usta to grab them pussies. Yeah, yeah, he's 79, but if you don't think he's glugging testosterone, I have a mining claim in Nevada right next to Lucian's to sell you. So, without constant pleasure or at least "opportunities" by way of his weenie, then it'$ money, ab$olutely.
Scenes from those vulgar parties at Magalago-a-go-go are an illustration of his debased need for self gratification. The fawning of his entourage boosts his ego and lets him lead the country like in his party conga line straight into cycles of war, environmental disasters, poverty, misery, and despair.
Where is Gustave Doré -- okay, okay, too snootsville -- where are Herblock and Bill Mauldin and Paul Conrad (three political cartoonists, eight Pulitzer Prizes) when we really need them?
I usta to love her stuff -- published by the Washington Post. She resigned when the paper killed a piece of hers depicting billionaire tech bros, including Post owner Beezlebub Bezos, worshipping at a statue of T***p, each offering it bags of money in abject obeisance. Come to think of it, isn't the money tech bros "donate" to Trump the capitalist equivalent of the island natives offering a woman to Kong? Similarity ends there. Kong died for his love of the woman, and T***p is incapable of any deep, positive emotion felt by him for anyone except himself.
The incompetent, malevolent, narcissist in the White House is now literally setting fire to the world. Everything Trump touches dies.
And it was all predictable and predicted in 1st term and attack on congress and on Georgia

I'm truly astonished that the Democratic and Independent candidates actually have to campaign at all.
I can't believe that the insanity and danger that is trump aren't glaringly apparent to one and all.
That's what I thought in 2020 and again in 2024--that voters would come to their senses after witnessing the horror of the first term. We can't take anything for granted.

Rule of Law. It's actually a thing. Who knew?
Who says we deserve a silver lining?
No one at all.
I agree. "We" (our fellow voters, not me) elected these people. So upsetting.
Lord, hear our prayer. These people deserve the firing squad.
Roberts gave Trump immunity.
But that dosen't cover a padded room in a psychiatric institution.
When he gets there let me know and we'll start celebrating!
A Thorazine party
😊

If JD is “our only hope,” then we’re truly lost.
The difference.
Trump is dangerously insane.
JD is sanley dangerous.
JD advocates for a Christian Nation but is also a Peter Thiel disciple? And wants Elon to return to the White House.
I suspect he stayed somewhat silent on the latest attack on Iran but allowed Rubio and Miller to say POWER is the best political weapon.
The answers are taking the Senate and House.
As a 85 year old registered republican since 1961 my dude is Bernie Sanders.
However being a pessimist i see the continuing rise of Oligarchy City States as we currently continue the Crusades.
And 5200 years ago?
Google Sumar-Elam,
Much as I love Bernie, PLEASE don't vote for him! This is a two horse race - and we need all the Democratic votes we can get.
November has GOT to be a blue tsunami.
Once we get someone sane back in power, you can vote for who you like - as long as the name's not "Trump."
Preeidents:
Has there been anyone to vote for since 1961?
In 76 I was reading law enforcement organized crime files about Fred, Roy and Donald
It's Sumer-Elam
The only reason they'll impeach and remove Trump is if he becomes a major liability to them.
You mean he isn't already?
Cowards

Definitely Elon was responsible for his win....whether by purchasing votes or some other manipulation. The Fix was in!
That would be terrific! Personally I can't wait until we get rid of him somehow or other.
I saw a Tesla today with a bumper sticker that read "I bought this before we knew Elon lost his mind!" It was put on crooked too!
It was my car you saw. I bought it on November 5, 2018 just before the tax credit was about to expire.
Oh! That’s too funny! Good show!
What a frightful situation. There's nothing any of us can do but pray for the intercession of The Maker to strike him down before nuclear disaster follows.

Yes!
The 2026 U.S. population estimate is 349,000,000. 3.5% would be 12,215,000. https://worldpopulationreview.com/countries/united-states
I'm not sure how that 3.5% calculation would effect the changes we need but I believe we may come close to 3.5% turnout given how many of us are being impacted in many ways by the increasing costs of living, including but not limited to gasoline and diesel prices. Saw yesterday that there are 3000+ protests currently registered around the country. This doesn't include the many that will be taking place abroad. http://www.nokings.org/news/over-3000-no-kings-events-planned-for-march-28-more-events-added-daily
I'll be there. It's the least we can do.
I've seen a study where it really needs to be greater than 3.5. Like twice that.
Let's hope I'm estimating low... we need all the turnout we can get. Gas prices will have a lot to do with it.
Henry, joining the rest of us out marching demonstrates resolve, and supports everybody else that's there as well as everyone else in the country that's doing the same thing. There really is strength in numbers.

If we really surpass the last NO KINGS Rally, that would be great! It was say a lot! Let's go for 10 million or more!
Given what's hitting everyone (who isn't rich) so hard, I expect No Kings 3 will far surpass 10 million. Fear and anger are spreading.
I certainly hope so! Now, they are after Cuba. I was in Cuba in 2018. I heard from a friend of mine that the borders are closed now!
there's something to be said for even that. when you feel powerless anything you do that you have control over is good.
Hedge your bets.
Pray anyway.
The harder they come, the harder they fall. I hope
I saw an article from an expert that keeps track of things like removing polling places in urban districts, democratic cities, college towns, mail-in voting counts etc. He claims Harris would have won by 750,000 votes in the swing states if not for voter suppression. Trump did thank Musk for PA, wink, wink.
There was interference in the election process, particularly in the swing states. This Will Hold lays it all out. Harris won.
I've been reading This Will Hold! Thanks arne!
God help us no matter what transpires.

It Worked In Venezuela... Tillerson had it right. He's a candy assed trust fund moron.
I thought he also said he was as dumb as a box of rocks - or was that someone else!?
Seriously, I believe Tillerson's exact phrase was "a fucking moron".
It was. I've been saying fuck too often..
I dunno. Both true.

Well, he's already tried "Joe and Obama. . ."
I seriously question if he can squirm out of this one. Too much is out of his control.
That's great imagery. Thanks!
An Ed Sullivan moment from our childhoods...great visual!!!
So funny!! We were easily entertained!
Thank you Lucian. The Pearl Harbor remark was just horrific…..a remark you’d expect from one’s 17-year-old smart ass/coddled nephew…..
Cringe-worthy!
Yes.
It's the sort of remark that when made at a family gathering drops a silence blanket across the room. . .
"Haw-haw! - remember when Grandpa was jailed for being a diddler?"
My God! How he shames our country.
Scary times indeed, Mr. Truscott. I’m not sure how things will fall when it’s “I love money!” vs “I love things going boom!” but I don’t like our chances.
I think the main driver is not "love" of something - but fear of the sound of a jail cell slamming shut. . .
He’s his own worst enemy! He will get his in spades! Mark my words!
Strangely, in spite of everything that's going on right now, I have a feeling that you're correct.
Donnie's problem is that Donnie doesn't hold all the cards. Yesterday, Israel dropped a bomb on an old cooling tank 200 yds. from an Iranian nuclear reactor. Come to think of it, isn't the money tech bros "donate" to Trump the capitalist equivalent of the island natives offering a woman to Kong? Similarity ends there. Kong died for his love of the woman, and T***p is incapable of any deep, positive emotion felt by him for anyone except himself.

You’re correct. My bad!
We have the wonderfully talented Anne Telnaes. She nails it every time.
We still have Mike Luckovich and Rob Rogers.
Once again, can you imagine if Joe or Obama had had a party like that? Or, God forbid, Jimmy Carter!
The last I heard of Oliver Stone, he was loving life, in...Russia!
"Greed is good, especially when it’s Donald Trump’s greed. It’s going to save us…hopefully."
Jeeze! Why don't I feel hopeful? Instead, I feel nauseous.
As always - a must read.
Why isn’t he being involuntarily committed???
That’s what we ask ourselves every day.
