It would make so much sense if his own karma were to catch up with him, at least in terms of his physical health. But even after he’s gone it will be greatly concerning that there is a huge cess pool of grifters, power mongers, criminals, democracy killers, and enablers that have utilized his presidency for their own ends. They will still be around to twist the truth with endless lies to attempt to hang onto power as they enact their ongoing 2025 scourge against the world.

Vance is a noxious, toxic man, and yes, the people around Trump are horrors.

If Trump dies, or is incapacitated, it's possible that they begin squabbling among themselves , it's possible that they will screw themselves.

It could get very scary.

Donald Nathan's avatar

That's exactly what worries me.

shee-rah's avatar

I hope that once Dumbass loses the House and Senate, the hangers-on will scatter and his circle of power and influence shrinks to a pittance. No one here or abroad will be listening to his gibberish. The few hangers-on still around can make up new “awards” to present to him so he still feels like he runs the world, and he can claim he resolved 14 wars.

Lisa Botwinick's avatar

Yes, I hope they screw themselves!

celeste k.'s avatar

Yes, it will, but it will implode.

Ilene Bilenky's avatar

Yes, but they will certainly devour each other. Just my humble opinion.

Donald Nathan's avatar

WORSE - they are likely to try to work in consort. We can only hope they eat each other alive. More likely than not, Nazi Miller will end up as chief of staff for Vance.

Ilene Bilenky's avatar

It all depends on what Vance's owners want.

Leigh Van Lydegraf's avatar

President Miller will continue his reign of terror if Vance in the Oval Office.

Susanna J. Sturgis's avatar

Not at all sure about that. What do we know about Miller's current relationship with Vance? What do Vance's handlers (Thiel et al.) think of Miller? The feckless cabinet members are loyal to (afraid of?) Trump, not Vance. It's quite possible that a Vance White House would run around like a headless chicken until it collapses.

When Jack Smith is nominated for 88th US AG under the next Democrat President? Won't they all be trying to book flights to non-extraditing countries?

Stan Wakefield's avatar

I would love to see Jack Smith as our next AG!!

Helen Stajninger's avatar

That would be great!

DS's avatar

It's absolutely vital that we rebuild our Democracy with real guardrails this time, limiting presidential immunity, anti-corruption laws for the government with teeth which apply to everyone, including POTUS, reforming the SCOTUS etc. in order to avoid the "cesspool" as you well put it from continuing after Trump is gone.

Donald Nathan's avatar

Susanna - none of us has a pipeline into the future. I certainly don’t. Nor do you. The only thing I think we can agree upon is to hope for the removal of Trump from Office, whether by reason of the intercession of God or by virtue of a major Democrat victory in the midterms of November 3.

The best any of us can do is just to make sure we are registered to vote and that we bring as many to the poles as we possibly can.

He’s a goner. I doubt if the evil old sod will make it to baseball opening day.

Donald Nathan's avatar

Tonight it's -35 for a wind-chill in Chicago. Tomorrow it'll be close to that in D.C. if he's there. Even in Mar-A-Lego his a** is likely to freeze to his golden toilet seat. He's going the way of Pharaoh at the time of the 9th plague - three days of darkness while we children of Abraham bask in light.

I can't unsee that image....

I so appreciate this hopeful post and am delighted to say that instead of "doomscrolling" like usual, I spent the last two days in beautiful Palm Springs, California at four excellent baseball games with the California Winter League which is a training league. They sign about 60 guys to the major leagues every year -- https://californiawinterleague.com/

He appears one of the walking dead Richard.

Richard Ellison's avatar

I want him gone as much as the next person, but, he could drop over tonight, and his “Movement” will continue full steam ahead.

They will do everything possible to disrupt and steal The Midterms……. That is a given, and it will be no small task to defeat their treachery.

Ralph T.'s avatar

Fascism requires a figurehead to vote for even if they rig the election and it certainly needs one in order to cancel an election. He is all an everything in this assault on our country.

If he croaks, they don't have a replacement. Vance? Miller? One of the Trumpettes? None of the likely suspects will hold the cud chewing maga core's attention. In the world of assholes, Trump is a unicorn. The rest are just garden variety assholes. Without the unicorn, fascism has no home.

Richard Ellison's avatar

You may well be right, but we’re close enough to November now….I think JD and the rest of The Crew can deploy some of our lawless/subservient Military in certain Dem locales, ditch mail-in ballots where needed, and cause such utter vote-tabulating chaos, (by contrast making the Bush-related Brooks Bros. Riots appear to be a lawful, solemn event), that @20-25 Races can not be called. Then: the CURRENT Congress decides the winners. But overall no doubt….his passing would help. Lastly: watch for JD to wed Ms. Kirk before Jan. ‘28.

And to Mary H.: see you at Spring Training; one of our lads coaches for the LA Angels.

Donald Nathan's avatar

Thanks for a good chuckle about Vance and the Kirk widow.

IQ47 and his entire band of demented sycophants are losing at everything all across the board. They’re poised for a tremendous downfall of epic proportions and, fortunately for we the people, they are so obviously, collectively, far to stupid to realize it. There’s a wonderful old saying:

“They’re burying themselves so deep they’ll have to take off their hats to pee.”

All that’s left is the how, when and in which prison facilities they end up. I’m hoping for South Sudan.

86 47 et al.

IQ47! Brilliant, as the Brits would say.

Leigh Van Lydegraf's avatar

Perhaps an bit high...based on results!

Robert Osterheldt's avatar

Stay safe! Great post. Thank you

Janet Robbins's avatar

Yes, stay safe and warm in the icy blasts heading your way. I agree "he is losing it", but what I also fear are those beside him, aiding and abetting him, who will do all they can to continue. I recently read a quote from the Italian communist, Antonio Gramisci, from his "Prison Notebooks": "The old world is dying, and the new world struggles to be born; now is the time of monsters." Even without him, there are all the other monsters who surround him..

Lawrence Dietz's avatar

Great, ever-so-true, quote, from some light reading. [Insert here ironic emoji of your choosing.]

Participated in the NYC march in support of Minneapolis today. Huge turnout. He's complaining about a problem in messaging. The thing is, his messaging is all too clear, which is why there are the protests.

My husband and I have a bottle of champagne in the fridge that we are saving for that very occasion or the Democrats winning the midterms, whichever comes first

I have a bottle of fine French champagne, the real stuff from Reims, chilled in hopeful anticipation of that happy moment. It will be like the end of the third original Star wars movie, dancing in the streets and the Ewoks party song.

Yes! I had forgotten... somewhere in the cellar is a bottle of Mumm's Cordon Rouge from our trip in '78...

Leigh Van Lydegraf's avatar

It will depend upon who's playing that day...

peter dohan's avatar

Yes, he is. Great analysis. He has frontotemporal dementia (proof: visits to Walter Reed qed) with 2ary mild to moderate psychosis. I say this as a nonpsychiatric doc. Miller is not a "wanna-be" nazi; he is a nazi, pure and unadulterated.

Leigh Van Lydegraf's avatar

Miller is already POTUS...

Bill Corbett's avatar

We all know it, but it just can't come soon enough. Tomorrow morning would be great.

Barbara (NJ)'s avatar

I check every single day

Charles G.'s avatar

Sorry Lucian, but I disagree. If he, hopefully, loses the House and Senate he may very well be more dangerous than ever. Maybe he won't but we shouldn't be surprised if he then uses executive orders, the free pass from the Supreme Court, and his pardon power to wreck untold damage at home and abroad. He already ignores the law and the Constitution. Think about an even more vindictive, unchained, cruel Donald Trump. Frightening.

arne link's avatar

The Supine Court is beginning to show a bit of mettle. They see the monster they have created and they are not that pleased with it. We have to keep the pressure on. I'm quite sure they see what's happening.

Lawrence Dietz's avatar

Remember young Winston Churchill warning that "even a cornered rat is dangerous."

Judith Felsten's avatar

But thousands of people already have suffered, had their lives turned inside out, lost fragile footing on their road to asylum and citizenship from his regime.

arne link's avatar

And think of all the thousands of people who have lost their good jobs and are now looking for work. It's a disaster that doesn't get enough attention.

Leigh Van Lydegraf's avatar

We can return all the government employees tossed out in the purge.

JR Buckley's avatar

Thanks again for post(s). Losing, spiraling down or whatever words one chooses to chronicle the crash and burn of Trump works for me. He is cornered and with the help of his multitude of enablers cum

self- dealers, Trump

continues to be in a position to wreak tremendous damage on us. Very bad and were that not enough, his replacements (looking at you J.D.) may be worse.

Helen Stajninger's avatar

JD Vance doesn’t have the cult following.

Leigh Van Lydegraf's avatar

Has a strong following in the couch making furniture lobby!

Tom Twain's avatar

Great column LTK, a fantastic summary of all of Piggy's failures. As you point out, he must on some level be aware that he's losing on everything. My fear now is that he's going to do everything possible to make sure we don't have a mid-term election, which he knows he will lose. Dems need to start prepping legal strategies to make sure the public understands the risk and will stop all attempts to declare martial law and suspend elections.

Kathy Hagar's avatar

It would be lovely to see him pay for his crimes and cruelty. If the Democrats do take back the House and Senate, and he is still breathing, I sincerely hope his impeachment will be expedited.

Best of luck to everyone in the path of the storm!

shee-rah's avatar

If Trump is impeached, would JD be any better? He could then run for president two more times.

Joy's avatar

Vance will never have the cult following.
