There were three separate shootings in Texas yesterday along Interstate 45. The shootings left three people dead and two wounded, CNN is reporting today. All the victims appear to be members of outlaw motorcycle gangs. In one shooting, in Walker County, two men aged 43 and 69 were killed, while another, age 61, was wounded.
In another shooting in Montgomery County, a 32 year old man riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle was shot dead also along I-45. Yet another motorcycle gang member was shot and wounded earlier Friday in the same county, CNN reported.
Outlaw motorcycle gangs are known to be heavily armed and are frequently involved in the drug trade, usually methamphetamine, and these days, fentanyl, so violence between gangs or even within a gang is not out of the ordinary.
These motorcycle gang members did not buy guns to go target shooting or deer hunting. They were hunting each other, something that is sure to continue as the right wing begins to splinter into smaller sects in one-party states like Texas, and all of the right wing sub-groups are sure to be heavily armed.
The far right doesn’t believe in democracy anymore, if they ever did in the first place. They believe political power comes from the barrel of a gun, just like common criminals do. The two Black representatives in Tennessee who lost their seats in the legislature two weeks ago and were reinstated this week received dozens of death threats, as did the white representative who held onto her seat.
Gun nuts on the right don’t want to talk, and they don’t want to negotiate. They want to shoot. There are more deaths coming, and not just among outlaw motorcycle gangs.
Honestly, had to think about this story for a while before I felt any real compassion for the dead. Bad on me but since the entire society is becoming conditioned to be numb when life is snuffed out with these weapons how am I supposed to feel "bad" when it is highly likely the "victims" in these cases were individuals up to no good and, in all likelihood, participating in criminal activity of some sort
I will go to church tomorrow morning and ask for forgiveness along with saying a prayer that somehow someway we as a nation can come to our senses and get these weapons of mass destruction off the streets. More good people than bad are dying as a result of them being too easily available.
Hunting hoomans in 'Murica? More freedumb and more martyrdumb.
Meanwhile the GOP pols were genuflecting to their gun god, the NRA. Although Trump, Pence, Nikki, and other presidential hopefuls received the headlines they were outdone by Gov. Noem (R-SD).
"Noem spoke about her grandchildren: Addie, who is almost two, and Branch, who is a few months old. Noem then said that Addie already had a shotgun and a rifle."
“Now Addie, who you know – soon will need them, I wanna reassure you, she already has a shotgun and she already has a rifle and she’s got a little pony named Sparkles too. So, the girl is set up,” said Noem.
Wat, no Harley for her Sturgis initiation?
