One: He should have more press conferences.
Two: He was sharp, well prepared but seemingly unrehearsed, relaxed, and most of all, actually presidential.
Three: He should fire whoever is in charge of the White House “comms shop.” His microphone had an audible click at the first word of every answer and had a hollow echo throughout the event. It didn’t damage the overall effectiveness of the press conference, but those kinds of errors at the level of the White House are inexcusable.
Four: He should get Newsmax taken off the list of journalists to recognize for questions. Keep them in the White House Press Corps so the real journalists have someone to kick around, but don’t answer any further questions from those incredibly dishonest, disgusting, and disrespectful assholes.
Five: He should practice turning around questions on the kind of “gotcha” assholes who kept asking about the Bull Connor/George Wallace reference in his speech. He should say out loud that he doesn’t want to be remembered as being on the side of Bull Connor and George Wallace, and he doesn’t know anybody who does. Does the questioner?
Six: Come up with something beyond “What are Republicans for?” as a criticism of that pathetic clutch of Trump lickspittles that passes for a political party. Say out loud what they’re for: tax cuts for billionaires, an end to women having control over their medical care, and a gigantic pollution free-for-all on global warming except when their districts get hit by tornados, hurricanes, and fires.
Seven: Have more press conferences. He’s refreshing, he comes across as in command, and he’s good at it.
Yes he should have more press conferences.
He should also sharpen his “Republicans what are they for?” rhetoric.
I agree with all of your suggestions, and I think he's a far better speaker than everyone thinks-the fact that he's a stutterer is probably the one reason the WH comms people are keeping him away from the podium and microphone, plus there's probably some jerk in that group who fears that being of an older age, Joe Biden might actually make a mistake.
We won't talk about TFG, who thought that there were airports during the Revolutionary War, or even more preposterous things-because the media thinks that Joe Biden is too old.
I just wish the ageism problem everyone has would calm down. Not all old people are senile, not all old people wander around looking for their watch. Not all old people are in nursing homes staring out of a window at phantasms.
Some very old people are in Congress, running the show. Some old people are in the WH, running the country.
It's about time we stop thinking being old is a tragedy. It just shows that you survived despite the odds. It sure beats being 6 feet under.
And I'm sure Mr. Biden knows that..which is why he's savoring every single minute of being POTUS.
He worked his ass off for this job, now let him do it, people! We voted for him, let him do the job!
