I’m just embarrassed for myself, my country, and all of us as a nation. The rest of the world is laughing at us, especially our enemies.

This is what extreme Republican and Christian nationalism brings to the table. Government insanity.

It’s comical until it isn’t.

SteveG's avatar

Just back from a short trip to Ireland - the general questioning there was "how long will you Americans let this madness prevail?" I assured them we will not any longer than we are forced to. Unseemly, as it is.

Bill Corbett's avatar

Steve, I have two good friends that just came back from Europe, and they said the same things about the Europeans their attitude concerning us and our governance. So, you are right, the whole world is wondering, WTF is going on.

I hope time is left for an adjustment and I live long enough to see it.

Doris Corea's avatar

I’m holding my head high! My friends in other countries know me and do not place blame on my shoulders! They know me through and through as a listener and a kind person! Their words not mine! Unlike Trump or Musk I do not ‘pat myself on the back!

Doris Corea's avatar

To me it was never comical! I read both of Mary Trump’s books between DT’s two presidencies!

Bill Corbett's avatar

Doris, I agree it isn’t comical but two year olds or toddler’s can be. I too have read Mary’s books and many others concerning DJT with alarming clarity of his capabilities for stupidity and retribution.

Ralph T.'s avatar

Yup, embarrassing. As to European friends asking "how long?", with our system what realistically can be done? Maybe impeachment, if we get lucky and the fools keep imploding with their blatant foolishness to the point that even the petrified sheep in the house and senate are forced to fold. The 25th amendment calls for incapacitation, which is a tough one given that The Moron got elected incapacitated, but hope blooms eternal.

The 2 narcissistic psychopaths at the white house are like poisonous snakes in a pit together. I hope they kill each other with accusations. Nothing is beyond those two evil and disgusting men. It would not surprise me if rump roast was right there with Epstein...

Don Quixote's Reckless Son's avatar

Kanye's trying to be the peacemaker here so make that 3 narcissistic psychopaths.

Doris Corea's avatar

I couldn’t have said it better!

I read a great article about Takers & Givers. We are one or the other!

Two givers is the optimum relationship as there is mutual respect and trust and understanding.

Bad relationship is one taker and one giver. Not the best situation as giver ends up ‘empty’!

But the worst relationship is two takers; they eventually implode! That’s Trump & Musk.

M.T. Kelly's avatar

More than likely

Stan Wakefield's avatar

"narcissistic psychopaths" is a DELICIOUS description of these two!!

Jon Warren Lentz's avatar

Bumbling, stumbling idiots on the narcissistic psycho path.

Terry's avatar

Of course he was - we all know the felon is a sexual predator and lusts after his own daughter - of course he's a pedophile.

Judith Testa's avatar

What a perfect analogy: like two poisonous snakes in a pit. How absolutely wonderful it would be if they would actually kill one another, like two duelists firing simultaneously and hitting each other in the heart.

Of COURSE t-Rump was on Epstein's island, fucking his tiny brains out with girls younger than his daughters. No surprises there.

C K Smith's avatar

I love your analogy. I had been thinking of King Kong versus Godzilla, where you hope the military swoops in and kills both of them, thus saving the world. But that analogy does not work with Kegseth in charge of the military. We know whose side he will be on, and the world is the biggest loser in this battle of the giant monsters.

arne link's avatar

Of course he was. There is plenty of evidence and everyone knows that Trump is a perv.

MJ Slocum's avatar

It’s sort of too good to be true really. But they are both clinically insane, both on drugs, huge ungainly egos, thin skinned—Unseemly is such a great word!

Terry's avatar

Unseemly seems too mild for this mess...I say massively f'ed up

Linda Heath's avatar

I believe it IS too good to be true. After they come down off of their high, they will wonder what the f**k have I done.

Judith Testa's avatar

And will "kiss and make up?" Ya think?

Judith Swink (CA)'s avatar

I don't believe either is capable of perceiving what they've done and are doing. Each is incapable of admitting they've done something, *anything* wrong.

Fred's avatar

I like unseemly as a description of this childish display by these two idiots but so unpresidential on Trump’s part. And people think he’s emotionally stable enough to be president? Tell me what part of this back and forth is presidential? Very scary, unstable man

Doris Corea's avatar

Just ask Mary Trump if her uncle is unseemly. She has stronger words for him!

George Merlis's avatar

Both CNN and PBS posted the entire 42-minute Oval Office encounter with the German chancellor on YouTube. My recommendation would be for medical schools to download the whole thing and use it for teaching future psychiatrists about narcissistic behavior. Another thought: there were certainly enough people in the room to stage an intervention. Why didn't they?

Janice D Stearns's avatar

Do you refer to the White House Press Corps? Dead from the neck up!

Leigh Van Lydegraf's avatar

Those that had balls have been castrated...did you miss all that?

Marcia's avatar

These two narcissistic Nazis non-men deserve whatever horrors come their way. Embarrassing idiots. It's so funny that musk thought buying the election for trump would get him trump's loyalty! 😆😆 Moron. Any fool should know that once trump gets what he can from you, he's done with you. And musk and all the other fools in the White House have convinced trump that he's a genius! 😆😆 They created the uber monster from already monstrous clay. Now deal with The Thing. They will all go down to The Thing. I hope.

Bliss Grey's avatar

I know I can sleep easy when Lucian K. Truscott's news letter is making me laugh!

Norris Blaxall's avatar

How lucky are we? There's no one better to chronicle this, uh, unseemly episode. I can't decide which is more yummy, the spat itself or LKTIV's account of it. In his own words: it's an example of things "so wonderful that describing them becomes embarrassing".

Marlene Lerner-Bigley (CA)'s avatar

I so agree with you! Lucian had typed this column with glee!

Lore's avatar

Musk did his job of embedding his minions into every nook and cranny of the government so whether he’s gone or not doesn’t matter. He’s already wrecked every agency and put thousands of dedicated public service people out of jobs.

Trump very cleverly has deflected attention from the budget bill and again the media is falling for it.

Frankly I could give a damn about this fight and they are not worth any time spent on it.

cal lash's avatar

Yes, Deflection!.

A fake soap opera?

Victoria Brown's avatar

Could be. With these 2 ya never know.

cal lash's avatar

We know ones a psychopath and the other a Savant drug user gone to another planet.

Marlene Lerner-Bigley (CA)'s avatar

Cal, I said the same thing. I want to be gleeful, but with caution because it could all be a ruse. And if it is, may the gods rain heavily on their parade and soon!

Worse than that! It’s like that Pro Wrestling that’s not real Olympic wrestling! They verbally body slam each other!

Patty Mooney's avatar

Jnatale43@gmail.com's avatar

Well it seems we have been promised a wrestling match to break out in this Kayfabe administration, and this will be both entertaining and not the last one. Pathetically amusing and sad for the US.

I especially appreciate Lucien’s reference to the Palisades and Weehauken, having lived in a house in the Hudson valley that Aaron Burr allegedly stayed in, and would hope for a perfect dual in this case, where they both succumb, but they are both Taco

Marlene Lerner-Bigley (CA)'s avatar

Perhaps the idiotic A-1 Education Secretary should be brought in as a referee for Round Two of this WWF spectacle.

When Elon tried to buy that judicial

election in Wisconsin and lost, that showed that he couldn't buy everything.

On top of Musk's deranged behavior and his disgusting glee at destroying USAID and decimating government agencies he has shown himself for who he truly is: a narcissistic, sociopathic bully.

The mask is off and more people see Musk for who he is.

Patricia Hope's avatar

ostensible tigers chasing one another around a tree - will turn into butter; works for me

Charlie Romanelli's avatar

Even money, by Saturday, musk will announce he rigged the election and Harris won. Whether it is true or not. He will drop that nuke.

BG Pete Chiefari's avatar

Charlie, I have absolutely no reason to think you're right! But I thought the same thing the day I found out Harris lost. I dismissed it when I thought about it as just wishful thinking. Came back in a hurry when you brought it up! One can only hope!

Janice D Stearns's avatar

I happen to think it is true.

Lynn Horsky's avatar

wouldn't it be lovely! wouldn't it be beautiful!

arne link's avatar

Nah, they've already kissed and made up. There is money to be made and helpless people to torture. They can't be at odds.

Judith Testa's avatar

Nope. I would bet that will NOT happen. Tho' I sure as hell wish it would!

Janet Robbins's avatar

Today’s “Word-a-Day” is BUNNY BOILER. It’s meaning: “A person who is dangerously obsessive and vengeful, especially when spurned.” Touché!

Richard Ellison's avatar

Methinx this spat is bullshit.

Odd that Elon leaves” Govt employ one (1) day after Judge Chutkan (@May 28) ruled CREW, etc., may pursue its claim vs Elon/DOGE, (asserting the need for a HOST of transparency re DOGE actions, and,

Richard Ellison's avatar

claiming much of DOGE/Elon actions are in violation of the Appointments Clause of the Constitution).

Odds are T and Elon are manufacturing this spat, hoping (in vain we trust), to extricate themselves from a sticky legal situation.

David Wemett's avatar

Maybe that's giving these two too much credit. Anyone though, who thinks he can wring some loyalty points out of 47 is not intelligent or observant, see where Rudy Giuliani is these days.

Kate's avatar

David, but someone paid off Giuliani's massive debt to the women in Georgia, and it's not public. I strongly suspect 47 arranged for someone to pay it (not himself, of course!)

Judith Testa's avatar

Wow! I totally missed that news! Can you recall where you read about somebody paying Giuliani's debt?

David Wemett's avatar

Did not know that. I knew it wouldn't have been 47 though, he's a stingy greedy monster who's never done anyone a favor in his worthless life.
