We are all fortunate that our pets are willing to share their furniture with us, and quite often use us as furniture as well!

You look very dialed in, but relaxed. Ruby is clearly fine with that. She looks like my black & white Rat Terrier, Bam Bam.

I love that name for your dog, Bam Bam 🥰

Oh, I’ve been in this same situation many times. The last time, it was two boys in their very early teens, three cats, and me, driving from Buffalo to Augusta GA. I bought a house then, going on 20 years ago. It was the house of hormones for too long a time (menopause and male puberty x 2). 😂 Now that the boys are men and no longer live here, it’s perfect for me and two different cats.

Make yourself and all you hold dear comfy, Lucian, however you can. 🥂

poor Ruby! you've squashed her hind legs!

oh..she's got them tucked up to get close to you - or more likely she was there first and wouldn't budge over to let you have space.

abd what's wrong with using packing boxes as tables. i do it all the time. i've got ALS syndrome (Any Level Surface)

Ruby looks exhausted.

Of course she’s exhausted! Think of all she had to do today: get up, stretch, yawn, eat a little kibble; walk outside in the cold wind; lie down in the sunny spot inside; watch her people do all that moving work; take a nap; stretch, yawn; go out in the cold wind again; wonder if her people are ever going to notice her: “helloooo. Have you forgotten me? I’m right here. Oh good, himself finally sat down. I’ll just nestle in. Can’t beat a dog’s life!”

Ruby, sitting next to Mr. Truscott, reminds me of one of my wife's cats. Since the day she brought him home as a kitten he has been my little grey shadow. Just the sight of me starts him purring like his world is whole.

Moving: it sucks until it doesn’t except, except, you, Tracy and

Ruby make it look like a loving arrangement.

It must be going smoothly, or the dog would not be relaxed! Fortunately, home decor is not a criteria for dog zen.

Great picture, Lucian. Thank you Tracy 🎉

If Ruby's happy, we're all happy.

I hope Ruby is exhausted from all the exploring she’s been doing! We moved 2-1/2 years ago and still do not have everything unpacked & put away. Best wishes.

I don’t know if you’re of the Flintstones generation, but in his younger days he fit the boy character well! If he could’ve wielded a club.... Now he loves a deep spinal/head massage and curling up with me on the sofa.

I love dogs and cats but also your settee, pillows and rug. After you settle in, what a great design article it would make to compare photos of the Sag Harbor and Milford places. More than design: a known writer and an artist duo adapting to a world changing in all ways. Attention paid to your subscription series on the war, especially, and Tracy's paintings for all seasons. I envision a great pitch.

You reminded me of one of the funniest moments on The Sopranos — when Christopher came home to Adrianna’s place high on heroin and accidentally sat on her little dog. Of course she freaked out when she came home and found it dead, and he said, “She must have crawled underneath for warmth.”
