Yes, that’s great-great-great-great-great grandpa TJ decked out for the holidays, complete with an elf on the shelf keeping watch over him. He certainly had his faults, but he helped to create the idea that is the United States, this challenging place where we live. He helped to write our founding documents, the purpose of which, above all others, is to hold us together.
I’m sure if he were around — well, within a corner of yours truly, I guess he is — TJ would join me in wishing you a happy holidays. After all, he wrote the First Amendment which allows each of us to worship whatever God we wish, or no God at all, and to enjoy the holiday we choose to celebrate in the way we see fit.
This year, we here in this home in Milford are choosing to celebrate by being thankful for each other and caring for one another, and we hope you will join us.
Tomorrow we can get back to the battles we must fight to keep safe the democracy old granddad TJ gave us.
I'm sure "Old TJ" would be very proud of his descendant. Your writing helps keep the true meaning of the 1st Amendment alive, unlike others who desecrate it for their own nefarious purposes. Health and Happiness to you and your family!
Happy holidays to all. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it. Here’s a Hanukkah song to carry forward. https://youtu.be/h1cRXgDFiSs
