I was just finishing my graduate degree at Cornell U in Ithaca, NY, and living across the street, literally, from a gay bar that opened at about the same time. It amazed me how active it was. I was sure it would be raided, it wasn’t, and I left Ithaca shortly thereafter without ever having visited it.
Great idea to have that discussion. Sexual freedom terrifies all the usual suspects, and it's interesting how over the years so many of the pompous, yammering right wing fanatics have turned out to be in the closet, too.
