Here’s one for the record books: Republican Congressman Patrick McHenry of North Carolina has decided that he is going to return tens of thousands of dollars he received at a campaign fundraiser recently. Who is Patrick McHenry, you might ask? Well, here’s a picture, which depending on your mood today, might tell you a little about him:
Keep it up, Lucian, The corruption in high places is at once disgusting and entertaining.
The Citizens United Supreme Court decision in 2010 made a legal fiction into the law of the land, to wit: "Money is Speech". That knee slapper means that, when you give a politician money, you are "speaking" to him. It follows then that any restriction on your campaign contribution would be an infringement on your inalienable, constitutional right to "speak" freely to that politician.
I wonder if this money-is-speech principle could be expanded? For example, to a landlord's right "speak" freely to a building inspector by stuffing a wad of bills in his pocket?
Bob, I just can't bring myself to find any "knee slapping" joy of all this. It just pisses me off that these corrupt people spend their time trying to cheat, and that this behavior is further helped by insane decisions by the "supreme" body that is supposed to be looking out for the welfare of Americas' citizens. Corruption in high places indeed.
This thing happens again and again. The banks buy the politicians and the politicians bend the regulations. Everyone is happy until the thing falls apart. Crypto is a modern day Tulip scam and the various banks now crumbling were scams from the start.
The republicans don’t care they insulate themselves and then let taxpayers get the bill.
thing is, I grew up with a bunch of friends whose dads made their living driving medallioned cabs. and it's a really tough life and those medallions had to be paid for.
so when I hear about this foulball speculative bullshit around taxi medallions, I can get speechless with rage pretty quickly...
Disgusting. Honestly, Lucian, I fail daily to process the numbers of human beings who lie. Not white lies, but profound lies that alter reality and ruin lives. I don’t think I’m naive, but the extent of this immorality of character is beyond anything I’ve ever known or studied in world history. Even a relatively insignificant man like McHenry is important in the grander grift.
I saw this smug plantation-boy on Face The Nation a couple days ago. He was, of course, not asked about his relationships with the banks his committee is “investigating.”
Why don't all these crypto-investors set up their own crypto-banks to manage and conceal their loot? Because they know it's all a scam! So they use regular banks, and take advantage of the lack of regulation and oversight; and too many of these banks are happy to hitch a ride on that perceived gravy train.
Naturally, when the imaginary house of cards falls down, they're all left wondering how things could go so wrong with their Ponzi schemes. And then they run shrieking to Uncle Sam to cover their asses at the expense of the rest of us.
Ah, it’s because banks like Signature were also lured by the fantasy of easy coin. They got themselves into the game. And the irony is that CryptoCurrency was supposed to circumvent that middleman, and allow for authenticated person-to-person transactions. But then the auction houses and the banks got involved which nullified the original purpose of blockchain transactions. And now look at the mess were in!
Let's just say what a photograph---it says volumes. More scum floating on the waters of democracy---or perhaps vermin scuttling across the kitchen floor where the financial menus are "cooked up". I'd not hold my breath, but maybe some good reporters will dig around a bit. That is laughable about "agendas" ---a crock of BS...... Looking down the postings list, Bill Palmer has got the "knee slapper" right. Money does "speak"---very powerfully, and frequently it and its message are irresistible. Thanks Lucian. Keep checking out those sewer pipes for the latests garbage and more to flow through----they are getting pretty full.......
Not to quibble, but I'm lookin' at that photo and thinking Pee-wee Herman needs to ask for his suit back...
🤣🤣🤣
I figured Tuckio Rose is still looking for the bow ties he list when Jon Stewart literally pantsed him on Tuckios own show.

You gotta admit that this a real knee-slapper.

Gosh he does look pleased with himself.
Haven't seen anybody look quite that So Satisfied since they voted to keep the local Baptist church all white back in '60 something.
Thank you! That was my take, as well!
The mood I am in today and most every day tells me that McHenry looks like a smug douchebag.
Thank you, Mr. Patterson. Yup, exactly my take on the Repubbie smirk eating up McHenry's face.
That face belongs in a pantheon of "Most Slappable", along with Sean Klannity and Tuckio Rose.
Please include Ben Shapiro in that pantheon!
This could get to be a long list....

Taxi medallions are as big a scam as crypto. A pox on them both!

There are only 4999 people on the planet. They are called Bankers.
Everything else is a commodity.
Lets see... my mood today?
McHenry looks like a simpering piece of intitled dog 💩with a pretty pink bow tie.
Question: Is it a vulgarity if I use an emoji, or does it get to be a cute little thingy?
Again Lucian tells important truths.
The only thing trump is right about is how corrupt it all is.
That an ongoing Rico violation became president was partly due to the confused anger of many Americans.
One hundred "likes" for your description of Mangolini--"ongoing RICO violation...". May I steal??

And Donald Trump is at the very top of the list of liars and grifters.
More slime bellied swamp scum. They could have their own game show, “Weasels of Fortune.”
Seems like a direct cause and effect situation. When you take away the guardrails, there's a good chance of driving over the cliff.

Lock 'em all up in the poorhouse, sez me.

You had me at the Winklevoss twins. Slam dunk.
