I hope you are right Lucian. However, the best predictor of future action is past behavior and that’s when my stomach starts getting tied up in knots. Cruz and Hawley will unfortunately lead other shameless cowards off the cliff.
I think you’re right, but I don’t think the 2/3 guilty vote will happen. The republicans simply don’t want to admit to the facts of their fascist, racist, utterly corrupt party. As an example, look at McCarthy. Reality and facts have little to do with these hypocrites.
I heartily agree with the notion of confronting the Republicans with personal witnesses/victims and full audio-visual presentation of the horrors Trump and Trumpism have wrought. I hope the trial managers demonstrate the cumulative effect of Trump and his complicit Congressional and media helpers in creating a climate of escalating violence in the weeks and months that led to the January 6th putsch, via tweets, emails, and Facebook misinformation. While it may do little to persuade the Republican Senators to find Trump guilty, it will show our fellow Americans in an unmediated fashion what actually happened in the Capitol building that day—contextualize the gravity of the rupture it constituted. Of course Hannity and Tucker will call it a "show trial," but the preponderance of unvarnished footage, and the generous helping of Republicans' own words on display might make a small breach in the ongoing assault of misinformation— perhaps a foothold in the war for hearts and minds.

They will get to two thirds.
Maybe Sen. Schumer will listen to VP Harris and Rep. Schiff, who know how prosecution is supposed to work?
