I wonder if when they're convicted, they will get an entire wing of ADX Florence (AKA the Supermax) set aside for them?

Because if they are convicted of sedition, there will be no better place for them.

Described as

"USP ADX Florence was commissioned as the Federal Bureau of Prisons needed a unit designed specifically for the secure housing of those prisoners most capable of extreme, sustained violence toward staff or other inmates.".

It is the only place I think is capable (and proper) of holding these gravy seals who thought they were being brilliant on having 'invitation only' chats on a Signal app, (which undoubtedly the Feds got subpoenas for the transcripts, and the owners willingly gave up) and by giving away all their planning in literally so much detail that no jury can avoid thinking that maybe these guys were deadly serious about insurrection and overthrowing a legitimate election with violence.

Because they will be convicted and sentenced to the most lengthy prison sentences in US history for the potential overthrow of the United States, which is what the actual charges should read.

It will teach them and others who dare to believe this will go unpunished to not think the feds are just as deadly serious when it comes to prosecuting them.

All for a waste of human flesh named Donald Trump. Too bad he can't be thrown into it with them..but wait, there's still time to do it, and we can most sincerely pray linkage will be made to put them together.

Wouldn't it be great to have Trump in the same prison as they are? "Here, boys, your very own playground. Have fun!"

PS: it's often said criminals are stupid. What's really stupid is that these tactical geniuses kept the phones they used to communicate with each other.

Had they never heard of burner phones? Even the lowest member of the cartels keeps those on hand.

They're burner phones for a reason. That's why cartels are hard to break up...

Excellent summary! These indictments are going to metastasize as the search warrants that were undoubtedly served on these 11 defendants are going to yield multiple avenues of approach, down through the heart of their organization, and anyone else with whom they have been in communication. These are guys known for their inability to keep their mouths shut, and incapable of keeping the wraps on information which, if it were official, might only be disclosed on a need to know basis. Every one of these guys is a blabbermouth. We will soon see how far down the food chain, or up the food chain, this criminal conspiracy goes. I also want to see how far into Congress this information points, particularly among Republican congressmen. There's a well-established thread identifying both Republican Members of Congress and senior members of their staffs as sheparding 'constituents' around the Capitol in advance of the assault on that building in the days following. Apparently, those tours didn't include the basement level communications tunnels and passageways, but some of them could have been on those pre-assault tours. We need to know just how much confidential security-sensitive information was disclosed to the insurrection planners.

My happiness will commence when those members of Congress are nailed. Not to mention tfg and his criminal cabal.

Excellent reporting, Lucian. Thank you.

I have no doubt that at a minimum Stone and Bannon were on the text distribution. White House boot licks as well? Congress people? I doubt if Trump was an addressee. He always has someone in between that he can blame if something goes tits up. (Sorry)

I wonder if they were coordinating with those in the War Room in the Willard Hotel. I hope that room was bugged!

I'm sure the Feds are going over all the communication-you notice that those people have suddenly gone silent, like they never even existed? I hope and pray they find links, because the nexus to Trump is right there in black and white. It might be a circular movement but it's all gonna come back on him. Especially if they can find absolute proof that they had contact with Trump's minions. I hope for it ardently.

Thank you for reading and describing this indictment! A public service! The charges are, as you say, an indication that these early Oath Keepers sang their heads off. If only the cynical, power hungry, and deluded would admit that there was no fraud, there was no "cause."

All of this makes me viscerally sick. Trump is gearing up for another run, Bannon & Stone continue to gaslight & radicalize the “base” to infiltrate every lever of government, imbeciles roam around Congress all the while dark millions flow into their coffers. And the Democrats are in DC bragging about their bi-partisan infrastructure bill and allowing a fucking rule to end Democracy-a rule they suspended 35 days ago to raise the debt ceiling. I hate this era of abject stupidity and zero accountability for the biggest criminal in American history.

Jimmy Kimmel joked that that Rhodes wasn't exactly a Rhodes scholar :) but I don't think these type of people think too deeply about the possible repercussions of their actions. Even just breaching the Capitol with all the cameras on them was a bit dumb. They also vastly underestimated the intelligence services and the high technology and unlimited resources available to them., Even whoever financed them and coordinated with them like possibly some of the names Lucian mentioned couldn't be all that bright. I'm guessing the fun is just starting It will be great to see them all go down for the count and I hope the captain goes down with the ship.

I read somewhere that Rhodes went to Yale Law School. I guess he skipped the lecture on sedition and its consequences

Where did the money for those firearm purchases come from? Oath Keeper monthly dues? Pocket change? Someone with deep pockets making a contribution?

well, well, well... I was waiting for this post all day with high expectations. I wasn't disappointed. so thanks, Lucian. and you're right...reading this stuff is unbelievably horrifying and yeah...it really does remind me of kids playing soldier (we used firecrackers and some of us graduated to cherry bombs, but it got pretty boring by around the age of ten). but they're not kids and they're not playing. I hope to hell that these indictments will make all this shit go away, but I can't be that optimistic. and yeah, I also hope to hell that it silences Bannon (a long sentence would be great, but he seems "clever" enough to've insulated himself, and I sure hope I'm wrong). Stone's a moron and may well finally go down. TFF is obviously sweating, but I don't think he'll ever see the inside of a jail cell. on FB, where I waste altogether too much time, I've been telling people who have been calling for Garland to resign to be patient. and now I get to be right for a few hours.

Stone is a moron but actually he’s evil. He is, no doubt, the mind behind diabolical plans. Hope he and the many others get nabbed like yesterday!!

Don't forget, this all started when Trump enrolled every racist in America with his Obama birth certificate nonsense.

When I look at the Oath Keepers I am reminded of Dean Wormer's admonition of Flounder:

Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son.

Thank you, LKTIV, for reading the indictment so we didn't have to. I gotta admit my mind goes all fuzzy when I try to read legalese.

Beyond all the eye-opening information, I got a good giggle out of "a bunch of ten-year-olds playing soldier in a patch of forest, calling each other on their Walkabout two-way radios, hiding behind bushes in their Walmart camo gear", which is exactly like I picture those wannabe false patriots.

Is the the alt.ending to Christmas Story? Ralphie grows up, goes to Yale Law, works in Congress, becomes disillusioned, creates his own army, buys a big gun and shoots his eye out? And Scut grows up and goes by his real name Merrick? Damn…… Thank you Lucian!

haha

so he does shoot his eye out

Yes. He dropped a loaded gun and shot his eye out, which is why he wears a patch. In some ways these guys are not worthy of fear and loathing. They are too damned incompetent. I know many Yale and Harvard lawyers who can’t find sterno in the pantry. Not people I would trust to lead an insurrection.

This line is especially delicious: "Even better, how would you like to wake up and read the content of so many of your 'invitation only, end-to-end encrypted group chats on the application Signal' that you tried so hard to keep the Feds from seeing?" Back in the day -- wa-a-ay back in the day -- we antiwar and feminist activists knew that our office and personal phones were often tapped and we acted and spoke accordingly, even though we weren't planning to break laws or plot violence. We knew that even innocuous conversations could be used against us. OK, the tech has evolved a lot since then, but these Oath Keepers . . . what idiots! They posture about the big bad gummint coming for their guns and their freedom and they still talk like this? I hope Stone, Bannon, Flynn, Hawley, Gosar, and the rest of them are quaking in their boots.

Great article. What gets me is that these perpetrators had the illusion that they were more patriotic, more caring about our country. When you see the picture you posted, it’s a laugh how their, “Boss Hog” looks stereotypically like you would imagine a villain-civilian to look. I’m curious if he injured his eye in some “Noble” conflict or something less combative like a a Scrabble dispute. Those can be viscous, especially if Rocky, Bowinkle or Natasha challenge.

Rocky can fly for Pete’s sake.

Here's an article from Politico about the likelihood of the DOJ actually getting close to Trump with this set of charges: (TLDR: maybe, but don't hold your breath. The GOP is poised to take back the House and Senate in the midterms and you know what that means..)

https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2022/01/14/capitol-riot-conspiracy-sedition-charge-trump-527118

But: there's good news, too-OAN has been dropped by DirecTV, which poses a grave threat to its' existence. Without their carrying the station, they will have no coverage at all. DT will suffer greatly, indeed: https://www.thedailybeast.com/directv-drops-truth-defying-one-america-news-network?ref=home
