It is super interesting they stood up to him.

Someone should do a deep dive into why.

In the meantime, make sure to get lots of extra sleep!

Gabe is my nephew Lorraine, I’ve known him since he was a child, it’s really quite simple, he was raised right, standing up to that POS was as natural as getting out of bed in the morning, I know that my late brother is smiling big time.

As a fellow Georgian, I am glad to hear that about your nephew. We need many more like him.

There were pockets of resistance elsewhere -- keep in mind that most of the people who testified in the public 1/6 committee hearings were Republicans. Rusty Bowers stood up in AZ, and lost his seat because of it. Even a few White House lawyers had lines they wouldn't cross. Like you, I want to know more about the why. Individual integrity has a lot to do with it, but I'm betting that the conditions in each office are important too. It's easier do the right thing when the right thing is *expected* and much harder to do the right thing when it means rocking the boat. Groupthink, IOW, is a thing, and it can work both ways.

Wow! Another reason for MAGATs to be proud of their leader and to stand firmly behind him.”I am your retribution “ he says and yet his actions and statements are clearly anti-democratic and unAmerican. He must not be allowed to run for POTUS. Each state's Attorney General must refuse to put this traitorous man on the ballot.

You are as tough as nails, Lucian. Keeping up on today's developments is one thing, but to write about it while you are so ill is something else. Thank you, I hope you are better soon.

This morning I saw a blurb about the former Lt. Gov of Georgia - Geoff Duncan. I looked him up and wondered why he is not the current Lt. Gov. From what I could find, Duncan did not support Orange in his scheme to overturn the 2020 election. But, the current Lt. Gov of Georgia, Burt Jones, did support Orange. Here's a quote from Wikipedia: "Jones denied the election results and promoted Trump's false claims of election irregularities.[15][16] In December 2020, Jones was one of four state Senate Republicans who signed a petition calling on the Georgia General Assembly to overrule the outcome of democratic elections within the state and "take back the power to appoint electors."[15] The petition called on Governor Brian Kemp to convene a special session of the legislature to award Georgia's 16 electors to Trump, who narrowly lost the state.[17] Kemp denied the request.[17]" It's going to be very interesting to see who else might be part of the indictment.

First: Good to hear from you. May I suggest Chicken soup and a lot of it. Try beating some eggs with lemon and stirring that into the soup (as it simmers) for more protein and vitamin C

(Sorry I’m in Greek mom mode).

Yes. Quite a revelation that Republicans in Georgia stood up against the orange jackass. Quite sad that it comes as a surprise too. We shouldn’t be shocked when people do the right thing. Agree these may be that party’s last chance to redeem itself.

Sleep well. Feel better.

I can't remember his name, but I interviewed a famous Greek football player (obviously many years ago) and he gave me his mother's recipe for chicken/lemon soup. It was really good.

It was driving me crazy as to who it was. I Googled, and I think it was Alex Karras.

I thank google silently every day for clarifying my addled brain.

Your post reminded me of two outstanding writers, both Greek:

Kazantzakis (the preface to Report to Greco), an inspired description of writing as a sacred act, and Nicholas Gage (Elani), a tribute memoir to the author's mother. Utterly brilliant.

"Elani" was wonderful.

Larry Tribe said, more than a few years ago, that the best bet to nail Trump was using RICO.

Done and done.

As for Les Misérables in PA., many of us sympathize because we know what it's like. Hoping tomorrow brings improvement. But you know who else has a headache tonight? The shameless and shameful head case ex-president and his remarkably addled, criminally inclined lawyers.

This is satisfying news. I just read Joyce Vance's substack and she included a screenshot of an indictment of the defendant erroneously made public by the clerks office. She explained some of the legalese and was waiting, as we all are, for official notification. I am wishing you both speedy recoveries. Lucian, we need your take on this turn of events. Thanks for all you do to keep us informed.

So many indictments! So many criminals listed! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts about all this, Lucian, when you’re feeling well. I’m certainly feeling better

I don’t see how the shenanigans, okay seditions, Trump and his minions did in Georgia plus the disgusting attacks on Willis and others makes him much of a viable candidate there next November.

Feel better, Lucian.
