The streets are nearly empty of cars, the last of the Christmas decorations twinkle on barren branches, the sun is horizontal in the sky, and the small town of Milford is beginning to settle in for another wintry night.
Today is my 75th birthday. In honor of it my UK family took in a shelter puppy. Tiggy, short for Antigone, is 8 weeks old. A Labrador Retriever and Border Border Collie cross, she has the makings of real gem.
Antigone, an exemplary heroine if ever there was one. Let’s find comfort in kindness and strength in caring. Your pup is lucky to have found her way into your life.
Northern NJ has now seen sun for the second day in a row. It’s amazing what it does for one’s spirit. So thank you Dr. King and Lucian for lifting us a little higher.
Thank-you for your greetings! I have been subscribed for just a short time to your letters but have to say,I am enjoying them immensely. Thanks again from north central Ohio where a dreary, damp day is playing itself out.
If only most days could be as peaceful, devoted to introspection, good deeds and heartfelt wishes to better the human condition, as today has largely turned out. Sadly, tomorrow it is back to the barricades. To paraphrase a well-known, and now seemingly timeless, quote, "Can't we all just get along?"
Poetry is my drug of choice. And when combined with thoughtful content, the results can be uplifting and insightful.
In the words of the anthem, “Lift every voice and sing”, written in 1900 to celebrate the Birthday of Abraham Lincoln, the lyrics still resonate.
Lucian, may you continue to pour out your heart and soul in political commentary, based on irrefutable facts. And may responsive discussion inspire your devoted readers to participate in this important discourse.
Nice message. I hope your winter continues well and not too snowy. Our daughter is here from San Francisco for a week, and thrilled to have a sunny, warm day. We snowbirds are here in Dallas for days like this.

And we are getting some sunshine… Happy day!
Congrats! Send some to northern Michigan! A glummy cold rain when we should be cross countryskiing in a couple feet of snow.

What a profound difference MLK made. He taught us so much about never giving up.
Thank you Lucian. Let’s hope that we witness compassion and humility in 2023.
Love your work. May I suggest however that you obtain a leash for your dog that doesn't go around the neck? It will be better for him or her.

Except for the folks in Alabama and Mississippi.
Hi Ruby, hi Lucian!
Enjoy MLK Day, Lucian. Charlie Sykes at Bulwark posted this sermon. Some good reminders to love those with whom we disagree. If Rev. Martin could ...
