I corrected a mistake I made. Harris County if Houston, not Dallas. Thank you to anyone who put me straight on this.

Thank you for reporting on the corrupt attorney general in TX. Paxton thinks he is above the law and so do some of his supporters His supporters claim he hasn’t done anything wrong, it’s just TX politics. I hope the TX senate impeaches him. I hope he gets tried and convicted for his crimes but I will not hold my breath because I still remember Tom Delay and it’s TX. Thank you for recognizing the Texas Tribune’s coverage. The Tribune tries to expose the corruption even if no one ever faces consequences. Axios has also given coverage to the Paxton crime story.

This is proof positive that our legal system favors the wealthy and powerful, who can afford attorneys who play the law like a tennis match, if you find yourself in the clutches of the legal system without attorneys to defend you with every maneuver possible, you are toast, our prisons are full of people I just described. Meanwhile the insipid imbecile that was our former president, lives in a resort and plays golf whenever he wants, and if justice was to be truly served, would getting up in prison every morning. The more I know the less hope I have for a good outcome to the conundrum we find ourselves facing, I’m not giving up, but I sense despair lurking in the wings. Paxton is a minor player, but he is a player in the mess we are involved in. Now that the knives are out in Texas we’ll see where the cutting stops.

It makes no sense even when you explain it. I should read it again but I don't want to.

Same here. My head was spinning before I was barely halfway through. What did it was Collin County withholding funds from the special prosecutors. Is this SOP in Texas, and maybe elsewhere? I wonder if Trump and Barr ever thought of it.

Run, me either. My head is spinning, even after morning java....

My God, Texas, tacky tacky. Re the mistress ... a nice Texas touch. And the wife is in the state Senate, sitting in judgment of him. She'll probably vote to not punish him, but I suspect she'll clobber him in private ... unless she's got something going with a Texas Ranger. Blech.

My feeling is that his recent impeachment is not only because of the $3 million in taxpayer dollars. There’s something more...but I don’t know what it is yet. He’s done so many despicable things.

If he had paid the special prosecutors he might have kept the con alive a while longer. Believing you are the smartest boy in the world is always hazardous to your health.

Texas or Florida? the endless contest of which can be the biggest volcanic sewer of venality.

William, you are a poet “the biggest volcanic sewer of venality”. Thank you, sir.

Shame how we find inspirational verbal cheese under the flabby underbelly of the political hack.

Surprised he’s not running for President.

If Florida is "America's wang" (The Simpsons -- did they originate this?), then Texas is "America's sphincter."

And this is tasteless, but tasteless times occasionally call for tasteless commentary.

And no slur meant on those good and decent Texans, in their millions, who suffer and endure these tribulations.

Corrrection: Harris County (Dallas) -- Harris County (Houston).

Houston is largely but not entirely in Harris County. Most of Harris County but not all of Harris County is the city of Houston

Voting is my county. Harris County has 2.4 million registered voters. This week the Texas Legislature -- while impeaching Paxton, passed a Texas Voting Rights act that give the state to power to remove county election officials and therefore the state run the county election. This action is separate from the state removing the elected school board for Houston ISD and replacing the board with state appointees to run the city public schools.

Blue cities in a Red state.

Pretty amazing, I'm most surprised though that the House voted so quickly to impeach. He must have made a lot of enemies. Now if they would just get rid of the horrible hypocrite Abbot.

Man oh man, Lucian! That Paxton feller sure can ride a pogo stick everywhere, can’t he? “Bouncing Beeline” should be his name. A total dipshit, a grifter (he learned from the best), and an adulterer this guy is. It will interesting to see what his wife does. If she had any backbone, she’d recuse herself but I doubt she will. As far as I’m concerned, he should be wearing the Scarlet letter A for Asshole. Great storytelling tonight!

If his wife knows about the mistress, she will probably vote to impeach him.

Ah! Just perfectly timed, and exactly what we all needed, after 8 years of exhaustion trying to keep up with all these maneuvers and shenanigans. Muchas gracias por todos, LKTIV!
