I think you’ve gotten a few of us hooked on Gracie and her kittens, so I hope you’re planning to keep us posted on them as well as your usual insightful posts on the state of the world
I so understand the box world of cats. Penelope has a box in the bathroom, the better to watch what's going on in there. A box in the kitchen, same reason. And a crawl-in box in the living room which she uses to hide away from everything. Don't you love it! Andrea
it really IS sort of amazing how little time it takes them to start looking like actual cats. dogs, I think, take at least a week or so more. but I've never had ANY animal that was born on-site (as it were).
I'm glad all your animals are rescues. all six of my dogs have been rescues and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Not only have I had animals born on site, but have had them born directly on me😹. When I was in high school I woke up in the middle of the night to licking and purring. Our cat was delivering her kittens between my legs. It was quite an adventure
a fairly autistic kid I was counseling at school seemed to be a magnet for cats giving birth on his lap. he was about thirteen and it had happened to him at least three times. it got me to thinking that maybe he was giving off some kind of vibe that giving birth on his lap was the safest place to give birth.
I just love the time in kittenhood when they first open their eyes and begin to explore the world around them. It soon becomes a chore for Mama Kitty to keep them corralled. I currently have three rescue kitties (all neutered) and a recently acquired rescue 'puppy'. She is a loving, but exuberant, approximate 10 month old blue tick mix who weighs already 80 pounds. I have an appointment with a trainer next week...
My vet says she is probably part Great Pyrenees or Andalusian Shepard. Either way, she'll grow to be a big girl. She instinctively herds the cattle into a circle and then sits and guards them. They are not pleased.
I wouldn't be either if I were being guarded by a dog that big. a month or so ago, I had my guys out and we ran into a six-month-old American Bully. Jubal was all over him, trying to be the boss of a 130-pound pup and I was terrified, but his person just smiled and said there was no chance of any trouble. and there wasn't, so I looked the breed up, and it's essentially a huge Pit/Staffordshire-type breed, but any and all aggressive tendencies have been deliberately bred out of existence. totally fucking amazing.
I am truly lucky. I lost both my 16 year old St Bernard mix and my husband to cancer in the last 3 years. Baylie had obviously been abused before she got to my farm. She was sent to me.
I adore looking at the pics of the kittens, Graycie, Tazzy & Ruby. It is a beautiful thing to learn about your precious feline & canine companions. The Storm Shadow is aptly named - a foreboding thing, indeed.
Busy mom Gracie taking care of the little ones and Ruby’s ears say she is fascinated! Tazzy has plenty of boxes. Who needs a security blanket when you have lots of boxes. You guys are so kind to critters.
Our kitty, Lena, lives for the boxes, too! It's a riot, and we have boxes all over the place for her enjoyment!
As for Ukraine, I wish the U.S. would quicken the pace and send them what they need to push the Russians out altogether. Too many civilians have died, and it won't stop until Russia is defeated.

You have the last name of a dude whose scribblings i like.
Both the home section and international news in one convenient package. Journalism looks good today.

Thank you for Kitten Watch 😍, and for the update on Ukraine.
They are all precious. Great photos Tracy!

Most likely David. That’s a very sweet story. And I like your new avatar pic.
Nice break from you know who and his recent world class self immolation!
Love the Kitten Report. Artemis 🐈⬛ and Apollo 🐈 approve.

I had a blue tick Beagle for 11 years. Lots of energy and baying. Taught her to sing “How Much is that Doggy in the Window”! 😁

A friend has an American bullie. A sweet, affectionate, comical BIG dog. She has never failed to greet everyone as a friend.
HA! She’s loving it though because obviously, she’s a working dog. Yes, looks like she will be a great big girlie. Lucky you to have her and she, you.

Thank you for Kitten Watch. Just the kind of update needed after a stressful week.

Lucian, re: the Box Cat--do yourself and Tracy a favor and watch a few videos on YouTube of Maru the cat--now there’s serious(and hilarious) Box Cat!!
The elegant Maru is entitled to play diva after so many performances in a long career. Thanks for alerting us to this treat, Sue.
We both love Maru!
The Storm Shadow looks to me more like a submarine than something airborne.
Same here, the grey body with those tail fins underneath, tripped me up for a second.
The fins brought to my mind twin keels although they're too far aft.
Our kitty, Lena, lives for the boxes, too! It's a riot, and we have boxes all over the place for her enjoyment!
