This all makes me so sick, and really don’t recognize the essence of so many of these characters that seem like weeds in my garden. I don’t think it’s just me, but since 2015 I feel like somebody wrote a crazy screenplay and everyone laughed, dismissed it, and then became victims of the zeitgeist of mother nature and were either swept away by the flood or have been thrashing in quicksand ever since. The ‘virus’ always seemed like a metaphor, but I am tired of being so angry at the jerks who wouldn’t just grow up!

I have immersed myself in studying history (thank you HCR) and you as well Lucian, as well as Greg Olear, and literally dozens and dozens of books written by brilliant and knowledgeable people... but I can’t keep up. The task of rewriting the history I was taught, and deep diving into the realities that are exploding at every level... from the ridiculous to the sublime in every day’s news, whew... so much to tackle and so much to keep up on... I am so exhausted.... but please keep feeding us.

Amen--you've said it all.

After an argument with a Trump supporter, I looked again at Trump's entire speech on January 6. Worse than I had remembered. Attacks and lack of "stolen election" evidence so glaring that Trump actually said, as if it were the be and end all conclusion: "Can you imagine Joe Biden getting____votes?" Trump is a demagogue and he frightens the hell out of me. That's the only reason I am grateful for any Republican, even Liz Cheney, who opposes him. It's not just his crude manner, for heavens sake, it's his lying glittering generalities putting forth flag-wrapped propaganda. He'll steal the next one if we don't stop him.

I guess Liz Cheney doesn't think anyone reads her record on past voting for DT and his misdeeds. This is a temporary setback, and she'll just sit it out until the 'loon factor' completes its' full course-it's only half-way there. By the midterms next year, it'll be complete because I have the feeling that most Republicans are going to be sick of the crap their party is doing and possibly get rid of most of the offenders..or at least I hope so.

Because if they don't, we're in for a world of hurt come 2024 and beyond. I just hope nature takes care of the old ones who ostensibly hold the power and then the young ones will shake out when they find that they're just loons calling to one another.

I don't want to believe that most Republican voters can possibly agree with them, one never knows. They're in power so someone is voting for them.

EXCELLENT Lucian. This ought to be posted on a site that she might actually read.

The same Repugs left office wholesale when it was decided that they either pledge to vote as a block or lose their PAC money. It was a Koch operation. They function as a syndicate—a criminal mob. The GOP needs to be investigated for racketeering and fraud with the NRA laundering their overseas money. Citizens United needs to end. Liz Cheney may not go quietly, but she is finished and The Don (and Charles Koch’s billionaire club) pull the strings.

It seems there are two parties: Old-School Chamber of Commerce Republicans and Trumplicans (pronounced "Trump-lickins"). Trump has 75% of the party he got ownership of in his hostile takeover. So the only way non-Trumplicans can have any sway is to caucus with the Democrats, maybe as "Center-Right Democrats." They might be able to move some policies toward a more conservative frame of mind in order to vote for those laws. They may be able to break the logjam! But apparently they've been branded with an R forever, and can't leave that corral, no matter how crazy the Trumplicans act...

We might add Tim Miller and Olivia Troye to the mix of "old school GOP" contributors on MSNBC who are sick at the demise of their former party. Nicole Wallace and Joe Scarborough declared their departure from the current mess long ago and make no bones about how they feel about the theft of the GOP.

Did I miss the news about those 100 persons who had supposedly signed a letter that was to "drop" last Thursday in which they were to declare a new party? I'm a news junkie, so I don't know how this one slipped by without my notice. But that said, the only party for which I could imagine Liz being a standard bearer would be the "new" party, whatever it is to be called and whatever it stands for. The Trumplican Party already has its criminal has-been identified and it has NO platform whatsoever except to require members to bow before his throne and turn this country into a wannabe monarchy, with him and his ilk as the "royals."

shes trying to scrub off her “tRumpwashing” paste…but it will lead to raw wounds.

All 45 supporters have dipped into the white racist paste pool and theres only one way to get cleaned…baptism in another party of choice!

The word “Cheney” always makes my neck tick uncontrollably. I will only give her credit for being a woman, a Lesbian, and for fighting back. Otherwise, she is a true red Repub, through and through and that ain’t so great.
