Wow! I lost and totally forgot Ian Masters! I was once a regular fan, but I can't remember where. Like so many analysts, he seems to lack the courage to be optimistic. You did a good job at the end giving him cause to stiffen his backbone. For the sake of his regular listeners and himself, hope it takes.
Nice interview, Lucian. I wish I shared your confidence in the history of our country to protect its future. I pray you are correct. And of course that we will win in November. Bless you as always for your work!
This memorial day "Honor Those Who Serve And Protect The U.S. Constitution"
See how dictators mis-use the military to overthrow democracies (General Pinochet of Chile), How the military as used to round up Americans of Japanese descent during World War II and how Republicans are proposing cuts to veteran's benefits.
Thank you Lucian. You have signed yourself up for perhaps the most excruciating job of our time in so thoroughly and insightfully following and covering the distasteful and many times disgusting intricacies of Trumpism.
I and thousands of others rely on the well researched messages received from both you and Heather nearly every morning. They are very much my anchor in this storm, or perhaps my reefed storm sails that keep me moving forward, giving me the knowledge I need to feel confident in my understanding of it all.
Without that I'd be lost, pin balling between NPR's nervously shallow inadequate coverage and the echos of FNC that permeate life around me here in Florida.
I know you can't help but do it, but thank you for your sacrifice on all our behalf. Above and beyond the call of duty, very much like that machine gunner on the hill.
I honor the very real sacrifice you are making for all of us and our country.
This really was a great interview, Lucian. When Ian expressed that he didn’t think we Americans could do anything, you successfully rebutted that statement. I guess he is unaware that there are thousands, possibly millions who have organized and are donating time and money to fight against this sorrowful regime. I suppose he knows nothing about Gen Zers also, and their energy to lobby against the NRA, and to see to it that equal rights will exist for all of us. Biden will win in November. I feel it in my 72 year old bones.
Music (much disturbing) to my ears. Speaking of my ears, and yours, on this Memorial Day, if you go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akRJwapNvBI&t=2107s, you'll hear a March, 1941 recording of Dvorak's Ninth, "New World" Symphony, live recorded broadcast of a Concertgebouw performance, conducted by Willem Mengelberg. (No, he was not a collaborator.) I assume the concert hall in Amsterdam must have been filled with Nazi officers. Is it just me, being emotional, or is the second movement taken at a slightly slower tempo? Isn't there more ache in the famous melody to which the lyrics for "Goin' Home" had been written in 1922?

He is always spot on! Love that guy, he brought a signed copy of Mein Kampf to 7th Grade, his Grandpa came up with it at some point.

The bastards want to cut everything! Veterans will retaliate in the biggest of ways.

I spent 10 minutes trying to figure out what background briefing was and how it was going to tear America apart.

As always my brother in arms, we will continue to fight
Would have enjoyed that; couldn’t get past security. I am not recognized.
Will send more money.
