For the life of me, I cannot understand how anyone (even a Republican) can dismiss this direct assault on our democracy as a minor skirmish.
People died in it. The Capitol was overrun by people who had no good intentions and no reputations for being peaceful law abiding demonstrators.
They were violent thuggish insurrectionists who were intent on hurting people for the sake of their egos and Donald Trump, who egged them on and then left them to deal with the results. He went back to the White House while it was going on, and watched with glee his work in action.
We're still in the throes of it, and we should prosecute them all for the things they did-mostly because they deserve it, and we are owed this.
Treason was in the air that day, (apologies to ABBA) and they should be held accountable for all of it-however harsh it may be.
It will take full scale information warfare to counter the trumpet lies. A constant barrage and media blitz of these videos and stills MUST be undertaken by all of us...sharing through every available means.
In my life I've watched history being denied, suppressed, whitewashed, or otherwise "revised" beyond recognition, but I can't recall any time where the revisionists moved in so quickly, so brazenly, and in the face of so much visual evidence. Words really do fail . . .
The insurrection attack was by design. Few in the MSM mention that the original contract for trump's rally that day was specific that the attendees were only allowed in the immediate area of the stage. Like other rallies they were barred from going to the Capitol. That is until trump had the contract amended the day before the rally to allow attendees to attack the Capitol. Even Fox "News" has noted this detail. Add that to the fact that many of the attendees came wearing combat gear and carrying weapons of all sorts, it's not far fetched to conclude it was planned from the git go.
A mob was created for sure. By design. I think so. Prep for combat, yes, with flagpoles, Mace, etc... . Also most retired cops are legally eligible to carry handguns. Plenty were in attendance - legally well armed insurrectionists with 9mms. Thankfully no one started shooting -- creating a massive blood bath with alarming implications.

It is unbelievable to most of us that mere months after this violent assault on our democracy instigated by none other than the biggest “Loser!” in presidential history, that many of the very members of government who were cowering in fear that day, want to pretend it was completely benign. These, of course, would be the members of the “Law & Order” Party….the “Family Values” Party….the “Blue Lives Matter” Party….the “America First” Party…. “We Love Our Veterans!” Party. Hypocrites one & all!

These usually include padding at the shoulders and elbows to protect in the case of falls. Therefore while he was screaming at the police officer to takeoff his protective gear, he was wearing his own.

He called DC cops Commie Scum, etc. The dude was unhinged as were hundreds of others - including many who would have hung Mike Pence and likely murdered Democrat Members of Congress. Once blood was shed there would have been deadly force used including snipers and officers using their pistols. Imagine a Kent State scenario - if you recall the massive protests/ aftermath to that mess in 1970. So now a few go to jail for a year or two? Then no one ever does this again?
