"Contranym"? That's a word that means two opposite things.

I see several "Live Free or Die" New Hampshire license plates most days. I like New Hampshire but I wouldn't want to drive around with that on my car. People who use that slogan often don't see freedom the way that I do -- it's like the ones who invaded the Capitol waving "Don't Tread on Me" flags. I like FDR's "Four Freedoms," esp. freedom from want and freedom from fear. I wouldn't mind putting that on a license plate.

Yes, contranym is one of two words. Am still scanning the empty spaces of me noggin' searching for the other. Lots of echoes so far, though.

Agree with your take on NH plates. Shake me noggin' when seeing one. And the Gadsen-Franklin flag has been adopted by the CSA to adorn their license plates. A shout-out to one of my seeds who fed me that factoid out of nowhere in a text message last year. Well, it was a text exchange on flags. A game my family often played as a subset of geography. Wish one would rescue me in the fruitless search for the word that is eluding me.

Yes, FDR framed freedom and fear as well as anyone in our history. Great reminder, am grateful.
