It would be going much to far to claim "it writes itself," no way, but the manner in which Trump seems to inspire bungling incompetence and brazen affrontery amongst his cohorts must make it easier to deal with!
I started cracking up at the bit about how the search was supposedly illegal because the FBI took some of Trump's golf shirts and a photo of Celine Dion, but I lost it completely at the idea that the special master gambit was intended to prove the search was illegal. And while we're at it, how the hell did Trump find a lawyer named Trusty??
Tom Nichols in The Atlantic newsletter suggests that we give thanks this year not just for what we have but for "the visceral sense of relief, to paraphrase Winston Churchill, that comes from being shot at and missed." Trump was so clearly in way over his head from the get-go, but despite the news reports and what's been revealed since, my mind still balks at imagining what was going on in the White House during those four years. Nichols on some things we USians have to be grateful for: https://www.theatlantic.com/newsletters/archive/2022/11/thanksgiving-american-economy-pandemic/672248/
Oh boy, that was fun. Picturing the lawyer squirming in front of the judges, was good, very good actually, but being with you all has made me feel perfectly sane. May each one of you have a wonderful thanksgiving holiday with family and friends if at all possible and Lucian thank you again for the smile you have put on my face. 🙏
Thanks for you comments, Dick. I agree that this column of Lucian's was fun reading and I'm also very happy to be part of a like-minded group of intelligent, patriotic Americans who recognize the hazard that Jabba-the-Rump is to the nation. And as Dick said, Lucian, you have done so very much to help keep all of us sane through this tumultuous time with the Orange Stain. May everyone here have a joyous Thanksgiving with family and/or friends.
Reading this was the most fun I had all day as we prepared to have 22 guests for Thanksgiving dinner. *Rump has struck out repeatedly in his oft panicked attempts to use the courts to avoid or delay accountability for his criminal activities. Has anyone computed his win/loss ratio since the 2020 election? That would be fun to read too.
Happy Thanksgiving Lucian and family, and to all the subscribors.
Every thief I ever talked to was of the opinion that what he stole was rightfully his by virtue of his hands being on it and yours not. That's one helluva argument to get any judge to swallow. Sorry, Donnie. Maybe it's time to scuff a toe into the courtroom carpet and act remorseful and shed a tear and say you "...made a mistake" so your hope of probation stays alive. If you're capable of it. Donnie? Donnie? Hey, Donnie!
The SC will most likely refuse to hear Trump’s appeal just like they refused to hear the case when Trump appealed the case he lost on the 103 top secret documents.
There was no red wave on election day, the Senate will be in the hands of Democrats not crazed Republicans. The legal community can see for themselves that the Trump carnival is fading into history and it's time to make that last. Trump has insulted the government and has been ever so tacky. His attorney's are grasping at straws and it shows.
The end is close, perhaps after Christmas indictments will come. Trump must be aware of this and one wonders what will be his last act?
Trump's last act: a rag-tag caravan of neofascist nitwits and scoundrels racing up I-95, to be met by a flotilla of yachts, fishing boats, submarines, and dinghys off the coast of Virginia, then gathering and deploying to storm the Capitol again --- only this time, with support from an amphibious landing force! Pure genius, guaranteed to take the globalist elitist Crazy Democrats and Nancy Pelosi by surprise!
If it does, then we are both bad persons. But, I believe in that MLK, Jr. quote which states that the moral arc of the universe is long, but ultimately bends toward justice. In a just universe we will not be judged harshly for finding humor in the squirmings of completely corrupt people. Or, so I hope!
I know you put a lot of work into these articles and just wanted you to know, at this time of gratitude, how much I enjoy following you on you peregrinations...wherever they may lead!
These traitors are so used to lying and getting away with it because people, in general, do they call him/them on it. Further, the attorneys know they don’t have a leg to stand on, they’re simply delaying the inevitable.
You must've had a good time writing this. It was sure fun to read.
I have more fun writing this stuff than should be legal.

I was going to suggest Trump found Mr. Trusty on Craigslist but after a quick Google search I read that he hired him after seeing him on TV.
But of course. LOL. Trumpy Bear does so love TV,
Where he spent his time while Bannon, et al, ran the country.

How did human life on earth produce a gargantuan financial collapse overseen by someone named "Fried-Banker"?

You continue to pound nails into the Orange One's coffin. Proceed!!
Thank you Lucian. Happy Thanksgiving to you and family.

And, Trump’s subsequent appeal to the Supreme Court.
We are never going to be rid of this man and his lawyers.
The SC will most likely refuse to hear Trump’s appeal just like they refused to hear the case when Trump appealed the case he lost on the 103 top secret documents.
If paid, they might be his only friends.

I'm positively giddy as I'm reading this. Does that make me a bad person?🤔🤔
It makes you the right kind of bad.
No, Kathleen, you're not a bad person. Mary Virginia is right -- you're the right kind of bad, just as most of us here are!!

Thank you so much for making the situation clear AND entertaining. What are the chances that Trump will actually pay the lawyer?
Roll percentile dice. I give a base 5% chance per lawsuit.
Lucian, have a wonderful holiday with your family and thanks for leaving us with some great laughter.

Lock up (or at least CHARGE!) the Drumpfster! Today better than tomorrow! He's a clear and present menace!
And has been for years.
I do so love this great way to end a day.
And also a great way to start a day, Mary!!
Yes indeed.
I love where this is all leading. And I love your reporting of it all!
