Former Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew Weissman just said on MSNBC that he would describe the indictment as “going to 11 on a scale of one to 10.” There are 34 felony charges of falsifying business records involving the “covert and illegal” payments to not only Stormy Daniels but Karen McDougal in order to influence the outcome of the 2016 election.
Listening to the reporting on MSNBC, which is based on reporting from an NBC producer inside the courtroom, it sounds like Alvin Bragg has brought what is called a “talking indictment” that tells a story of the conspiracy to silence two women who had affairs with Trump in order to win the presidential election. The facts surrounded the “up-charge” in the indictment, which brings the misdemeanor offense of falsifying records to a felony, apparently do not involve making an illegal campaign contribution but violating New York State tax laws.
The other big news out of the courtroom involved the Deputy Prosecutor raising the issue of Trump’s recent conduct, his “rhetoric and threats” made on social media. The prosecutor mentioned the image on Truth Social showing Trump with a baseball bat aimed at the head of District Attorney Bragg, as well has Trump’s attacks on Bragg, his wife, and the judge. The prosecutor said he was “very concerned” about the safety of people working in the district attorney’s office, as well as potential jurors. The judge responded that he was taking the issue of Trump’s conduct “very seriously.”
On Trump’s behalf, one of his lawyers called the indictment “an injustice” because Trump is running a campaign for the presidency.
The hearing went on for more than an hour. Trump has now left the courtroom and we should have access to the full indictment soon.
" Trump has now left the courtroom and we should have access to the full indictment soon." First stop likely the men's room to change his wet and soiled diaper. Kinda hoped the upsell on the misdemeanor would be taxes (just like Al Capone) and not the federal election laws. The tax violations, like the misdemeanor conduct, are STATE charges. Looks like there can be no way for Drumpf to appeal to SCOTUS and HIS judges there.
I will not watch because it (TFG) sickens me so. You are going to be my only source on this. Many, many thanks.
