Well, certainly not this iteration of a thoroughly disgraced and despicable party. Just choose one who's grabbing for attention in their den of iniquity and tell me there's anything about them you'd seek out in a leader. They are the definition of despicable.
They are the party of plutocracy and as such lack anything resembling policy in the public interest. The impeachment trial will showcase their sound bite-driven hypocrisy.
When you have a hyperpartisan mouthpiece like Meghan McCain going on the attack on Republicans like Hawley and another worm, there suddenly seems to be a glimmer of some kind of hope the party is actually beginning to cannibalize itself. I was a Republican for a long time. I cannot understand anyone being one today and thinking that's what they want on their tombstone one day.
If Barack Obama had delivered the same speech to BLM protesters who then invaded the Capitol, these Senate quislings would be howling for his head on a pike. That's why I'm comfortable labeling them racists.
Which tells you another whole avenue of what's wrong with them. My prayer is this is going to be a grotesque misread and overreach for them and it will all start to turn on them. When Ronna McDaniel says the party is backing off supporting only Trump, it tells you there's way more behind that that you don't know. I think they're starting to see everything coming apart.
There are people who say that some in the crowd desired to murder the Speaker and VP Pence as starters -- using bludgeoning and hanging. These folks have AR15s with a lot of Ammo which they left at home, mostly. Does the R Party want to start defending people who want to over throw the US Gvt by violence? The goons have proven their abilities to create mayhem.
This column, by virtue of cataloguing the damage the Republicans have done to themselves, brightened yet another otherwise dreary New England day. Thanks, Lucian.
What I wrote to Sen. Deb Fisher (NE-R): “Trump’s insurrection must not go unpunished. If the GOP wants to be a party with ANY claim to higher ground—moral, financial, spiritual or patriotic, then the GOP needs to show that reprehensible behavior is not tolerated by party leaders.” Now, sit back and bring the popcorn...
Politico should never be considered an authority on anything much. One journalist writes one article with this viewpoint. I need more sources and better ones first.
No one ever said Republicans were rational or intelligent
You are correct, sir.

No only would I not seek them out as leaders, I wouldn't want them as neighbors.
Not only, I meant...

I suspect a few of these brave patriots will miss the vote to convict - they may even need to quarantine - so they can miss the second vote too.
Repugs need to ask themselves how scared they were and then ask themselves why trump didn’t try to stop the riot.

It appears this Republican Party does want to do exactly that.
Well, who armed them in the first place? The NRA has been the GOP Money-launderers since they swapped out for “Better Red than Dead” Putin’s Putz.
