There continues to be bad news about voting restrictions. The Brennan Center for Justice reported in January that last year, at least 19 states passed 34 laws restricting voter access. This year, at least 13 bills that would restrict voting have been pre-filed for the 2022 legislative sessions in four states. At least 152 anti-voting rights bills have already carried over from 2021 to 2022 in 18 more states.
"All hope is not lost, folks, when one of Lauren Boebert’s county clerks is cuffed and shoved into the back seat of a squad car outside the place where she was happily lunching with her friends."
That final sentence made my day! It would make me even happier to see Boebert shoved into a squad car in handcuffs and eventually sentenced to life in prison without parole-- found guilty of treason. Oh well-- I can dream!
From Colorado where we have a world-class Secretary of State, Jena Griswold who has been all over Tina Peters and other miscreant county clerks. A strange twist, however: Tina Peters has announced (2 days ago) her candidacy to run against Griswold in November’s election! I think she may be disqualified if she is convicted of a crime, but the Boebert groupies and The Pillow Guy will surely rampage on her behalf.
One of the many important lessons I learned during the late lawlessness is the importance of secretaries of state. In most states, they're responsible for all matters electoral, and an alarming number of the ones in swing states are Republicans. Lucky for all of us, one of them, Brad Raffensperger in Georgia, takes his job seriously. But everybody, please, whatever state you live in, learn a little something about your secretary of state and about anyone running for the office. Downballot elections matter!
Absolutely, and I hope more liberals and progressives are coming around to realizing what the right wing has been acting on for decades. You might be interested in a new organization, Downballot Progress, that supports progressive candidates in state legislatures in part by helping build the downballot activist infrastructure they need. https://downballotprogress.com/
We have crazies here in Colorado, but I believe we mostly have our feet on the ground, as evidenced by whom we have elected — Bennet and and Hickenlooper to the senate and Polis as governor. Maybe, God willing, we can resist the fascism that is taking over iso much of our country.
If these people were acting in concert to change the results of the 2020 election, I do wonder if they were also responsible for the election of Lauren Boebert? I mean, they're among the delusional people that believe TFG was robbed of a victory (which has never been proven at all) and they'd break every law there is to make it look like he was.
TFG, though has more important things to worry about-because his accounting firm, Mazars, has disowned 10 years worth of his statements and you have to wonder if that's going to be his downfall, when the banks finally get fed up with his crap and call in their loans.
Oh, the whole ball of wax is melting but not soon enough for me. Gotta happen before 2024 so we can be assured of an election that doesn't have him or Sarah Palin in it.
Thanks for mentioning my little state of CT. We do have strong voting laws but we also have some loose canyons around looking to become Secretary of State in November. Always good to stay vigilant when voting for local and state candidates running for offices related to voting rights.
We have an opportunity in November for CT voters to consider a ballot question on early voting. Independent voters are the most registered, followed by Democrats and then Republicans. A couple Republican candidates running for SOS aren't too thrilled about that question being put before the voters. You can see why! Trump's tentacles continue to reach into every state. Stay vigilant.
Every state could benefit from having their very own Stacey Abrams. As vile as they may be, understand the laws, mobilize and get people out to vote. Find a pathway regardless of how difficult it may be.
In the words of some linguistic genius: Holy Excrement! Does anyone know what makes the MyPillow so special: filled with Holy Excrement maybe? $hit$ of a feather: Lindell, Peters, Boebert, Hawley, Cruz, Jordan, Name We Will Not Utter, etc. Prayers that Tina Peters arrest is only the beginning and that Tish James keeps on doing her thing to the Family biz!
why would anybody be especially sure that he's not? because he says so? lying about his drug intake hardly seems like something he'd draw any kind of line at. he sure acts like he's under the influence of SOMETHING, aside from all the human influences we already know about.

Yep, that last sentence was the absolute BEST! Also, yours about Boebert and others would be a dream come true!
Well, Peters is running in the GOP primary for Colorado Secretary of State she can try to gum up all the machines.

Down ballot is where the action really is. But the best laws not enforced are just speed bumps to criminals.

I fear for our elections coming up, especially those in hyper gerrymandered districts like Gym Jordan's in Ohio.
Google it. If it looks like a duck...
Jordan and the rest of the sedition caucus may still be prevented from serving in office via the 14th amendment, and I’m holding that in my heart.
As long as you aren't holding your breath, waiting for that to happen!
Yessssss!!!!!

Wow. Boebert! But nothing has been mentioned on news outlets? You have to wonder how many others are getting away with voting crimes…

Is it somehow enlightening or fun to be batshit crazy? Is there some drug I don't know about? WTF
The Return of Palin...
Wooden stake?
Thanks, Lucian, for some good news.
He got off it? Fooled me!

Right? It really is time for him to completely melt down. He’s so overdue.
