One of the really great things about the concept behind Substack is the fact that they are a “middleman” between the writer and reader, but they don’t impose the kind of algorithms employed by other tech companies that choose what “content” you see for you. With Substack, you get exactly what you subscribe to — nothing more and nothing less. If you’re reading this, you obviously subscribe to me. But you could also subscribe to Heather Cox Richardson’s widely read newsletter, or Matt Taibbi’s TK newsletter, or any of the other newsletters available there.
This week, Substack introduced its app — available only on iPhones and Mac computers for now, but soon available on Android and Microsoft laptops. The app will put all Substack newsletters you subscribe to in one place, and will present my newsletter in a dedicated inbox if you so choose. It will also prevent newsletters getting sent to spam folders or getting lost in other email filters. My longer posts also won’t get cut off by your email provider because of space and will run them right through to the end of whatever I’ve written that day.
So here it is, the new Substack app in all its glory. You can download it to your IOS device. The Android version will be along soon, and I’ll notify you when it’s available.
As always, you can also…
I have to wait for Android. I also recommend Popular Information and Michael Cohen's newsletter. They're informative and interesting, but nobody writes as well as Lucian.
Thank you! I have to wait for Android as well. I think I'm up to six SubStack subscriptions now! Yours is usually my first read every morning.
