One of the Fox News Sunday shows quoted my column yesterday in an appearance by Rebekah Koffler, the author of “Putin’s Playbook” and a former Defense Intelligence Agency analyst. With a chyron on the screen reading “Russians claim to have seen Mar a Lago documents,” Koffler described Mar a Lago as “a counterintelligence nightmare” that is regularly targeted by Russian intelligence. “Russian spies are on the lookout for top secret information all the time, especially if it is related to nuclear weapons,” Koffler explained.
Then to my astonishment, the host said that “over the weekend there was speculation about what else might have gone out. Here’s Lucian Truscott…” And a quote from my column appeared in a box on the screen:
“The first and last thing on his mind every day is money, that he may have wanted to sell the information to the highest bidder. Who might that be? Why his friend Vladimir Putin of course….We won’t need to know what Trump and Putin talked about [at Helsinki] if what was removed by the FBI includes United States nuclear secrets that would be useful to and desired by Putin and Russia or Iran or any other other enemy state.”

I’ll leave it to you, what this means about how Trump’s standing with his fans on the right is being affected by the revelations from the FBI search of his home in Palm Beach. But when Fox News is quoting yours truly on one of its Sunday shows, something is shifting in the political firmament.
Stay tuned, folks. This story just gets weirder and weirder.
Am I surprised?
Not in the least.
Lucian and Greg Olear are nailing the crux and foundation of Trump’s character: it’s all about the money.
Where else out there do you see people identifying the heart and soul of the man?
When I have written here that both Lucian and Greg, my 2 favorite columnists, are beautifully right on target characterizing Trump, I am recognizing top quality analysis. And I am not alone: if you read replies here, you see constant praise and grateful appreciation.
The quality of Lucian’s analysis *absolutely* qualifies his work for wide consumption.
Congratulations Lucian 🎉🍾🎉🏆🏆🏆🏆
Dubious honor being Fox but still an honor. So when will WashPo, NY Times or Guardian give you a richly deserved regular column. Being a professional opinion columnist myself (minor leagues), I consider you the gold standard in the commentary game, as good as if not bettter than commentariot's biggest names on a consistent basis. And since I am invariably correct....
