I agree with Mark. Appreciate your effort, and I suppose it’s good to be reminded occasionally of Trump’s demented idiocy, but the less I see and hear him, the better.

I tried to watch the whole thing, reverting to my adolescent sense that one needs to be open to all kinds of experiences, etc....even terrible ones. you know...the whole "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, but after an hour, I figured I could easily do without the rest of it. this guy's brain is broken. I revel in his incapacities and cognitive breakdown(s), but that hour was more than enough for a very long time. he can't actually answer questions. even those ridiculously softball ones. and not a single "journalist" tried to follow up, or point out that he was doing a lot of "misspeaking" and being "hyperbolic"...those terms that places like the NYT et al like to use instead of "lies."

if there's no fact-checking on those debates, it's gonna be crazy. Kamala will have facts and be focused and he'll drone on as the "moderators" refuse to moderate.

fuck this guy awreddy.

You realize what he's doing, right? He's blurting out exactly what's going through his mind every second. Unfortunately, he's unable to edit himself so we're hearing his stream of conscious thoughts, if you can call them that. What a godawful mess the inside of his head is.

But then, why does he need a notebook to remind him? You’d think by now he had the script memorized. The fact that he hasn’t shows what a mess his mind really is.

The debates are gonna be a disaster for both Trump and Vance.

Gotta love the image of those perishables (milk, sausages, etc) sitting in the sun while he rambled on and on, when there are people who could have actually benefited from having that food on their tables at their homes … which are not located in a luxury golf club that few can afford admittance to!

I just read The NY Times summary of that press conference (6:37 MDT). You would think it was a normal press conference with the former president discussing his economic and energy plans. They did briefly say he veered off topic and didn’t seem to follow the notes in his binder. But if I didn’t know better I would think it was a pretty coherent presentation.

Oh, they did lead with the former guy saying he had every right to level personal criticisms at VP Harris, and they repeated that in the story. No rebuttal, nothing about this is not the right way to campaign. Nothing. Disgusting.

Love your penultimate paragraph. As for tampons in boys' bathrooms:

" If Your Time is short

In 2023, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz signed a law that requires schools provide access to menstrual products in bathrooms regularly used by students in grades 4 to 12.

The law does not distinguish by sex or gender, saying period products "must be available to all menstruating students."

A legal expert from Period Law, a group that advocates for making menstrual products free, said the bill would allow schools to provide period products in boys’ bathrooms, but it does not mandate the products be provided there. A school that provides products in girls’ rooms and all gender bathrooms, for example, would be in compliance."

https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2024/aug/13/jesse-watters/claim-that-gov-tim-walz-forced-schools-to-stock-ta/

Also:

"A conservative strategy to knock Minnesota Governor Tim Walz down a peg drastically backfired on Friday when it turned out the entire scheme was, actually, not true at all.

The day after Vice President Kamala Harris announced Walz as her running mate, conservatives threw their first major punch at the Midwesterner, labeling him “Tampon Tim” in reference to a 2023 Minnesota state law that conservatives criticized for providing menstrual products in school bathrooms. That included—according to the right-wing media pundits that amplified the rumor—a mandate to also put them in boys’ bathrooms.

{snip}

But as it turns out [Surprise!], no one had actually done their research before blasting the transphobic conspiracy into the world—not even a simple Google search of the law’s actual text. In reality, the wording of Minnesota’s law offers “considerable flexibility” in its implementation and doesn’t specify which bathrooms the product should be placed in, reported the Star Tribune. “That might mean making these products available for free in various locations for all who need them, such as unisex bathrooms, girls’ bathrooms, the school nurse or the front office, but not necessarily in boys’ bathrooms.”

Not surprised mainstream media did not mention the fly on Trump's face and link it back to the fly on Pence's head. At the very least note Trump is a germaphobe yet stood in front of the press w/one fly on his face and scores of others buzzed around him due to displaying food in an outdoor setting.
