If the Republican Party were not turning into an extremist and terrorist organization which looks more and more like the IRA and the apartheid South African National Party of F.W. de Klerk, it would be Larry Hogan on everybody’s lips, not Rafael Edward Cruz.
The Texas situation just emphasizes something that I think (in part, anyway) underlies the rot in the Republican Party. That, as the last 40 years have amply demonstrated, Republican economic philosophy (i.e., “supply-side”, massive deregulation) has been an utter, dismal, failure (see, for example, pretty much any chart showing income/wealth disparity, wages, etc. since 1945 — every one shows a hinge point at 1980).
Without that, they’ve got nothing. That vacuum allowed the neo-Confederates to take over. 🤔😉😊

I can’t get the picture of those nasty republicans in a g string. Republicans have always been this way so what can we do to turn the tables on them? My taxes have gone up but the billionaires have lower taxes. Trump literally gets away with murder but no one really cares except the Dems. They need to be hurt on their pocket and their power base. I guess racism and sexism still helps them. Drunk and frustrated.
The only play from the Republican playbook that we Democrats should emulate is to wield power ruthlessly when we have it. The thing is, however, we are interested in the common good, unlike the Republicans.
The R party went down a rat hole, for me, when Bush 43 decided he would invade Iraq which cost $ Trillions, many lives and further destabilized the region. They now can decide if they are the party of Orange Man, Bigotry, Grift and Proud Boys. They have Rehab for Alcoholics. Do they have a 12 step Program for the R Party. I am done with them.
