Everything you need to know about the folly of appointing a so-called “independent commission” to investigate the insurrection at the Capitol on 1/6 is contained in the first sentence of a story in the Washington Post yesterday about the collapse of the effort. Nancy Pelosi is having trouble finding b-partisan support for a commission because “…Republicans face sustained pressure to disavow that it was supporters of former president Donald Trump who attacked the U.S.
The saying that you can’t negotiate with terrorists should also include crooks, liars and scumbags, better known as the republicans. Trump has plenty of other mischief to deal with in bank fraud, mail fraud, wire fraud, money laundering etc.
Every Sunday my Congressman, Greg Steube, FL-17, sends out a weekly letter and asks for comments.
Every week I remind him that supporting Trump's Big Lie and joining the small group that refused to honor the Capitol police makes it impossible for me to take him seriously.
I get a form letter reply that is pure nonsense. This guy is hanging close to Gov. DeSantis as he seeks to run for POTUS in 2024, if Trump permits.
Dems in Florida are inside the belly of the beast, and the beast is blatantly stupid and rolling in cash.

Bravo, Lucian! Once again your verbal hammer has hit the nail squarely on the head! Maybe in the end it’s good that the GQP keeps clinging to the sides of t-Rump’s slowly sinking boat. Let ‘em go down with it!
Yeah, I’d been hopeful but pessimistic (no cognitive dissonance there) about a (ahem) “bi-partisan commission” — their reputation is so encouraging — but I always figured it would be better than nothing. 🤔😉😊
I agree. I think a 1/6 "commission" would not only be a complete waste of time and money, but would also serve as a gift of more free publicity for the likes of "Gym" Jordan and his ilk.
As the FBI continues to identify the insurrectionists and arrest them, I notice more and more from my own neck of the woods showing up on that list. No surprise. This is Texas, after all. But here's what I'm still waiting for - evidence of the whereabouts of Boebert and MTG and their aides on January 5th. I want to know WHO showed groups of people around the Capitol. I want to know the identities of the people in those groups. I want to know where THEY were on January 5th. I continue to think that the person with the pipe bombs was a woman, based upon carriage and walk and appearance. And I continue to believe that this woman LIVES in that area of DC and was familiar with her surroundings. Once the dominos begin to fall within Congress itself, the TQP will have to close ranks merely to provide cover for those still standing. They'll need all the gazillions they have raised thus far to pay their legal expenses. Maybe this is just wishful thinking. Appendages crossed.
TC, I agree 100%, but I still cling to the hope that a substantial number of Republicans are silently, perhaps temporarily, leaning away from the Trump Republican Party.

Old saying: you can't reason with mad dogs.
