"Capacious ass!" Ha! Almost did a happy spit take of my morning java on reading that one. Such a superb coinage combo both polite yet slicing; apt description too of his baboon butt.

Impeachment, impeachment, indictment, indictmen. indictment... the hits will keep coming. His base clings, poll numbers don't slide.

We truly live in what-in-the-fuckity-fuck times.

I, too, admired the elegance of "capacious ass." I may have to rethink my usual reference to him as "Lardass."

Trump's entire lifetime of crime has been enabled by his aversion to putting things in writing and his ability to intimidate witnesses. But now there is pesky video and audio tape that have captured his words and instructions...and a whole lot of witnesses and co-conspirators who may not want to go to prison for Trump. We shall see when the long overdue indictments start to drop.

May Trump get exactly what he deserves and every bit of it he's brought on himself. Something our parents stressed to us as children, which is the least painful time to learn that necessary lesson. If only his punishment could be that he's not allowed to utter another word for the rest of his rotten life. Not a word. Ever. Again

I don't really care what he says as long as he not allowed to be in a position do to more harm to our country. As president he will destroy our country and our democracy and do incredible harm around the world. And, I am not sure he will ever be convicted of anything or if he is that he won't be pardoned of it all. I thought 2020 was the most important election our country has ever held. 2024 will even be bigger.

Will the worst criminal in USA history, traitor trump, ever really pay for his crimes? Or will he delay things so long he'll die choking on hamburgers before we get justice? Why isn't he in prison awaiting his many trials? He's literally getting away with high treason, murder via lies and neglect, and every manner of criminal activity. My Navy vet spouse, who was part of the blockade against Russian nukes in Cuba, often wondered why no one had taken him out. Why is he so protected? By photos he has of uber wealthy friends doing unspeakable acts?

Remember, Trump has no interest in governance, why he was "hired" to run. The tax breaks and SCOTUS destruction were his only tasks...rest is gravy for the scum who run his crime operation.

Yes, it’s maddening, isn’t it, that he’s still a full body, loudmouth in public?! In my opinion, he is an assassin who has hypnotized his followers into doing the dirty work for him.

A criminal of his magnitude deserves a cruel and unusual punishment-- at least in my opinion, not shared by many. Maybe his cruelty has rubbed off on me, but I'd love for him to suffer some hideous medieval form of slow execution. But I know that's just a fantasy. In reality, I continue to believe that he will never see the inside of a prison.

Trump is on track to spend the coming months in some form of detention, because he cannot keep his mouth shut, and he has very poor impulse control. Sooner or later, he will violate some judge's court order to desist, and be held in contempt - subject to imprisonment or house detention, unable to campaign for the 2024 election.....

It's my understanding that Trump's long life of white collar crime was facilitated by lessons learned from McCarthy and the Mob's junk yard dog lawyer Roy Cohn. How fitting if Orange Blight winds up in prison for running his mouth on the advice of legal hacks Eastman, Ghouliani, and the Kraken Lady.

Giuliani+Trump have been in the scam life together for a long time. In 1989, Trump's race-baiting call for the death penalty against the Central Park 5 was a 3 cushion shot to racially smear David Dinkins, one of Rudy's opponents (and eventual winner) in that year's NYC Mayoral race. They've walked on the dark side together through a variety of wrong-doings -- ties with alleged Russian mobsters, the odd bank scam or two, Ukrainian misadventures and finally an attempted coup. Be good to scrape these two malignancies off the body politic.

tRump has never been able to avoid the braggadocio of his dealings - maybe in writing, but never in speech. Witness the taped meeting in Bedminster where classified info was shared and crowed about with wholly inappropriate hangers-on. That his own words may hang him is sweet justice. I anticipate many more indictments and multiple charges coming down the pike. Hopefully, in many states and jurisdictions so as to counter the biased judge in FL, and seat juries who can filter truth from bs. Along with the added interruption of campaign 2024.

It’s called sedition. He should go to Florence, CO for the rest of his pathetic life.

I’m tired of the media giving him attention! The only thing I want to hear about him is his death notice from Florence.

Trump may end up being indicted in 5 jurisdictions, 3 federal, and he knows his chances of being acquitted in any of them are zero. Trump supporters have voted against him in civil trials and grand juries. Legally he's toast. The only chance in his mind is some convoluted plan to escape punishment politically or through some form of seditious revolt possibly involving public executions. This is a very desperate man. Nobody is better at hiding his level of abject terror concerning his situation. I think we about to enter a new, higher level of depravity and insane rhetoric.

Expand full comment

"acquitted in any of them are zero." Note: do agree it is plausible Trump will directly call for violence including assassinations and executions.

For the fun of it (tongue-in-cheek)

-What if Trump claims he mentally pardoned self on or about 19Jan2021?

-Watabout freeze (strike), fight (strike) or FLIGHT option to a friendly Gulf State?

-And since Trump claims he is a honorable man, he could have his precious Valet lay out a Trump brand suit Made in CHY-NAH along with freshly shined platform shoes, a crisp white shirt and 96" tie, Hanes tighty whiteys, a mens SPANX, and Gold Toe hose. Followed by the Valet dressing Trump after Trump's regular 3hour battle with his hair. When the Valet departs, Trump takes a .45 conveniently left on his dresser by the Valet, then eats it only to discover he never injected a round into the chamber. Instead, uses one can of Super-Size Aqua Net XXXtra hold to spray his clothing, then the other as a blow torch. Trump Steaks well-done.

TOO FUNNY! Especially the why-not? "What if Trump claims he mentally pardoned self on or about 19Jan2021?" One less funny possibility someone proposed on MSNBC Friday night is that everything he's doing now is a vigorous campaign to set up jury nullification. In each of those trials, it just takes one.

Expand full comment

Saturday requires a bit of humor as does every other day, no?

Yes, jury nullification is possible, even more so in Trump country. Would not be unprecedented and shouldn't be so easily dismissed by seasoned former Federal prosecutors. How could any of them forget what happened at the Bundy-Occupation of Malheur trial?

That trial took place in the hotbed of anti-USG activity rivaling, if not exceeding the MAGA crowd. Went beyond jury nullification to entire juries rejecting the USG case in chief, then claiming hubris on the part of the USG and of insulting the jury by failing to show any proof. The entire Occupation was on teevee for skyguy sake including live confessions.

It revealed the problem with FBI Agents being primarily assigned to their home turf. That works fairly well for local/state LE but is not conducive for Federal LE. It is called Federal for good Reason. Our mil is great cuz it draws from all locals with one mutual goal that is reinforced by rarely being posted near one's hometown or for not long. That way one learns how country is first and then acts accordingly. For all its flaws and warts, the US mil gets the important stuff right.

Expand full comment

I can only wish I had a light touch myself. Yes!—humor is welcome anytime.

At the time of the Bundy mess i'd never heard of jury nullification or the concept. Beginning to end, it all simply confused and dismayed me. I didn't follow closely because it was so alien and a continent away from my sphere of influence.

I had no idea geographic dispersal was as important to effective federal law enforcement as it is to the military. I've lamented the loss of a national service requirement ever since Nixon ended the draft—hardly an original or lonely sentiment. I never knew one guy who was drafted for noncombat service who didn't benefit enormously—especially from mixing in distant places with people from vastly different backgrounds.

My fantasy is a two-year universal commitment, M/F , no exemptions, to be served in a class-ethnic-racial etc mix far from home, providing all needed services, social and military. Climate change may necessitate it. One more thing we should be planning. Agreed, the military gets things right on the whole—despite itself.

Yes, I definitely think he will declare that he mentally pardoned himself and all of his co-conspirators on Jan 19, 2021. I hadn't thought of that before, but it would be just like him to say that.

Remain astounded how you can write in a de rigueur style, then bam! the reader is ambushed by plain speak (bite his own capacious ass). Works every time.

Am glad you cited Rusty Bowers. Although there are no shortage of witnesses to all the schemes Trump engaged in, other than tapes of Trump speaking would argue Rusty Bowers is the quintessential witness for prosecutors, the Judge and the jury. His gender, age and professional yet interspersed with folksy demeanor, are all creditability enhancers. And what will be sure to capture the emotive side of jurors is how his terminally ill daughter was harassed by Trump followers, including an armed one.

So, if/when he testifies to phone calls with Trump, surrogates, and most of all with MAGA AZ State Senator Kelly Townsend to call the AZ House into special session (sure wasn't her brainstorm) to specifically elect a new slate of Trump electors, Trump's jaw will drop. Point being, Mr. Bowers testimony will be far more compelling than the monotone of the GA SecState Raffensperger. Besides, Trump is the star witness in that "perfect call", not Raffensperger, as you rightly point out.

Unlike the FL trial, all-things 6 Jan. will be in DC. In FL Trump sees the potential of 2 lifelines, Judge Loose Cannon and 1 or more MAGA jurors. Bon chance in DC mothafucka'.

One reason I never miss a dispatch from Mr. T., aside from his take, is that he knows his way around the English language. I've already singled out his coinage of "capacious ass" in response to a fellow traveler in this space, so I will move on to "The jaws of justice are beginning to tighten around the ankles of Defendant Trump."

In this instance the reader cannot help but see a dog trained to attack the ankles of anyone doing an evil deed. The mind wanders (well, this mind wandered) to visions of blood, exposed bone, torn flesh, and then, sepsis.🤞

Exactly the image that came to mind as I read that sentence. Preferably a superbly-trained Doberman Pinscher or Weimeraner.

I'm thinking German Shepherd or Pit Bull. A Doberman would work, I guess. My only knowledge of a Weimaraner is one my aunt had who was smart enough to turn the television on and off ... but if they attack people, all the better.

Actually, I should have said Rottweiler rather than Weimeraner. I can tell the difference between the two breeds but consistently mix the names up. The only Rottweiler I've known was a sweetheart but they do train them as guard dogs. I'd go with any of the breeds we've mentioned (other than the Weimeraner) since they can each be trained as attack dogs.

Thanks for another reminder that DTBT (Donald Trump Big Tuchis) is astonishingly unintelligent. He clearly absorbed from his favorite crime/gangster movies that the big boss never puts anything in writing. Okay. However, he evidently couldn't comprehend the scenes where we learn that the big boss never gives a direct order to commit a felony. A nod, a cigar waggle, a gesture. Nothing out loud that could be picked up by a microphone. Apparently Trump never saw The Conversation (too high-brow?) and The Enemy of the State, and never for an instant thought his gaseous, felonious bilge could and would be repeated word-for-word by someone making a deal to save his/her own (presumably smaller) ass.
