I'm going to continue posting on Twitter. I will post something like this:
I have a new column on Substack today. It's called "Justice Thomas and his regular guy vacations." If you want to read it, just Google the title and my name, Lucian K. Truscott IV.
You can also download the Substack app. A button to download it is on every one of my posts.
We can also take photos of your column headings and links for anyone who wants to be enlightened. Twitter is a fascist platform. If you commit high treason (trump and gang), promote mass murders (greene and gang), or commit murder (killer kyle), Twitter promotes you. If you point out the deserved penalty for treason (prison or death), then you go to Twitter jail (me). If you research and tell the truth, (you), you get banned. Like muskrat, Twitter is a POS.
I will keep posting the links to your articles in Mastodon so people know where to read your work. I have 101 followers, (very, very modest number) so they will at least get a chance to read your work.
Oh, also by the way, Mastodon has a 500 character limit for their toots from the git go. I like that feature.
This is disgusting. Musk is behaving just like the other emperor without clothes. What a POS! I’m so sorry I can’t leave Twitter in the dust, as I’ve never been on that platform, and I am sooooo glad.
Lucien, Twitter is dying a fast death-and it's not surprising given what Elon's done so far-banning the NY Times as a 'imperial running dog' (not their exact quote, but the same idea) and it's just getting worse by the minute.
I would suggest that you join Mastodon, where everyone is allowed, and Twitter is despised as the 'bird site'.
It's free and it has hundreds of thousands of people who fled Twitter in search of a place where free speech is respected and cherished:
You just have to join and pick an 'instance' to use as a main point for your posts.
Retoots are allowed, almost anything is allowed and you can ban people from following you in a flat second.
Their corporate statement:
"Mastodon is free and open-source software developed by a non-profit organization. Public support directly sustains development and evolution."
I can't say enough good stuff about it. It beats Twitter into the ground.
It's great!
BTW as a selling point, Mastodon has "Caturday" with the felines in the spotlight. You can post the pictures of your furries all day, and everyone will applaud.
As I've said before on there: "Happy Caturday! Bring out your cats!"
I joined Mastodon last fall but couldn't figure it out -- it felt like it was trying to put everybody in their own lane. Maybe I'll try again. Haven't done anything with Post either, beyond joining, but it doesn't look so complicated.
I really am speechless, Lucian. What cesspools certain parts of this country, media empires, and state legislatures have become. Lying, hate, racism, and indifference to the deaths of children and others are the leading characteristics of the Republican cult of death and hate (marked by the RED of blood on our political maps).
I left Twitter, which I quite liked, as a protest against Musk's deportment. He has only cemented my judgment.
The intellectual dishonesty of warning people off Substack for reasons of infection and spam is noticeable. Better he should have said, "Substack writers are mostly Democrats and on the left, so you won't read any of them here."
I’ve never been a twitter fan. Only used it for posts from independent writers like you, Lucian. It’s been even worse since Musk. Like others have stated, WP and NYT are hardly worth checking out anymore. I keep my subscriptions because of a few writers. Musk’s weird action is just another scary sign that the Right Wing is out to destroy all opposition.
Joe owns Joe's Grocery Store but feels threatened by George's Grocery Store, which is across the street from Joe's Grocery Store. So Joe, savvy businessman that he thinks he is, puts up a ginormous billboard on the side of the highway in front of his store that reads "George's Grocery Store sells rotten food that is dangerous to your health".
I can't see any difference between Elon and Joe, can you?
Wow. What a right-wing tool that guy is. I once forgave him, a bit, for his peculiarities (I assumed he had sociopathic tendencies that grew out of his moneyed background, or was seriously on the spectrum toward autism, neither of which were his fault). No more.
Maybe just mistaken optimism? Don't be so hard on yourself!
You might, to phrase it differently, have projected your own more *self-actualized* consciousness onto a world still filled with people still working on that kind of project:
I've been a twitter junkie for a long time but never joined, considering being unable to interact a feature. Although feeds I follow are not the kind that attract trolls, I rarely read twitter comments. Not even EvilElon will deter me from following those reporters, lawyers, thinkers, et al. while they stick around twitter.
So I totally do not understand (nor do I need to) why twitter would be required to read Substack. Don't all Substack subscribers get automatic email notices of new newsletters? I prefer not to use a single-product app if I can avoid it, so I usually pop Substack email notices to one of my browsers.
The megalomaniac has already reduced Twitter's value by half and I expected relief in some form or a realistic prospect of it by now. Wednesday turned out to be the day. Looks like Substack is going to play white knight with Notes—see my other comment. …
The alarming notice twitter has started attaching to substack stuff is a venerable software tradition that micro$oft pioneered. M$ greeted attempts to install Explorer rival browsers in Windows with similar threats. Google has continued the dubious practice in android—I forget which apps, presumably competitors to google's.
You may not need to understand why Twitter is important to Substack writers, but you probably should. Yes, anyone already subscribed on Substack will receive notices, but as Lucian mentioned in his post, when his columns are retweeted on Twitter, it gives him a large pool of new subscribers "and the income that goes with them". So not only is Musk stifling free speech, he is also stifling business. Maybe Substack writers should file a class action lawsuit against Musk for lost revenue...

I have joined Substack Notes which is in beta right now but will soon be available to everyone.

Same here. I never signed up, but they would have lost me at 150 characters.
Ditto.

Me too, on both. Subtack's ui I can manage, hope that applies to Notes too.
Excellent information! I thank you for it!

Sorry day. He is a scary individual. I can guarantee you i will never ever buy a Tesla. Hes another pal of Putin. Screw him
wait...wait...is this the CANCEL CULTURE people like Musk complain about?
Good one!
Twitter, why are you so insecure?
Look at who owns it.
Question answered.
I left Twitter, which I quite liked, as a protest against Musk's deportment. He has only cemented my judgment.

Screw Elon Musk.
Twitter is so overrated! I refuse to have an account there.

Fascism was something that belonged to my parents’ lifetimes. Or so i was so stupid as to think

Musk is a bad person to have that much power. Twitter is becoming a right wing mouthpiece.

Micro$oft, don't get me started.

Thanks for the correction, Norris. Where did all those comments I read too fast and misinterpreted go? Nowhere to be seen today.
