It looks like Chauncey Gardiner made to the White House! Trump gets all of his “intelligence” from watching TV. Tragically, some 70% of Republicans still think Biden lost the election. Amazing.

Nice, it also highlights again that some of the possible ambiguities clung to by those desperate to believe Trumpsky, excuse me, Herr Gropenfuehrer, really did, really really! win the 2020 presidential election, are built into the system of our Electoral College.

Needs to be fixed, it is broken. Also, roughly 18% of the US population managing to control the US Senate, that's broken, needs to be fixed.

This timeline Lucian is hammering on, as is the Select Committee, is as good as "follow the money" for unravelling the plot. Trumpsky, excuse me, the Mango Mussolini had been arranging, devising, scheming, organizing his options for subversion for many months, and this was the culminating event: a violent armed mob attacking the Capitol, murdering police and threatening an extrajudicial assassination of the Vice-President!

You’ve given me a new favorite moniker! The Mango Mussolini. The DOJ must focus on the specific crimes that can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. My worry is that we must find a jury that will act responsibly and not politically.

You're welcome!

Thanks! Will do. I am Lucian’s classmate. I wish more people would learn from history. The good, the bad and the ugly. We’re in an ugly place at the moment!

Well you can't miss with those films, I seriously thought while watching them that, even with my enormous appetite for every kind of excellent and only ok Hollywood films, and that really basic number of European films along the way that most Americans of roughly our generation see one way or another, that I had missed something major when seeing Rossellini's films. He just gets out of the way of the human drama in an incredibly effective way, so to speak.

Wow! The parallel are scary. I am more convinced that Trump makes shit up along the way as opposed to being some kind of master planner.

Trump DELIBERATELY and CONSCIOUSLY decided to egg on these violent extremists to riot and storm the capital and go after Pence. No question and no confusion about what his intentions were. We are all so tired from the 5 years of Donald and his enablers gaslighting all of us that we have a serious problem accepting reality as it’s occurring right in front of our faces. We end up being the ones who question our own senses, while the lying liars who lie about their non-stop lies continue to lie in the face of TRUTH. There never has been a question about what kind of person Trump is, he’s a sociopath, a grifter, a pathological liar, a sexual predator, a horrible father and husband, and a loser.

A few years ago I was struck by the claim that Trump had, in elementary school, openly attacked one of his own teachers, since it would fit in so neatly with his ex-lawyer Michael Cohen's sworn testimony that Trump insisted none of his academic records ever be released.

Days ago I read that the alleged attack occurred when Trump was in the First Grade, I mean, this stirs up some vestigial sympathy for even the now vile and odious Trump: what the hell did the parenting consist of anyway?

"No one ever became suddenly corrupt." --- Roman poet {help me with reliable sourcing if so inclined, I am not sure where I read this}, but the really important point is, even TRUMP must have, at some juncture, been a very different sort of person than the really obviously dangerous, narcissistic, bizarre crackpot & quasi-fascist woman-hating bully he became, right?

What went on here, anyway?

I only recently heard about the first grade thing, but I know for a fact (from at least two sources) that when TFF was in high school at the expensive diploma mill my nephew attended (Kew Forest School--NO REGENTS exams to worry about), he punched one of his teachers in the face and was thrown out. if I'm not mistaken, his Nazi dad was even on the Board of the place, and it's a fancy shithole. that's why he was sent to that military academy, which allowed his "handlers" to spin the ridiculous story that his attendance there left him with a "lifelong love and respect for the military." uhhh......

Donald is certainly the worst among vile beings, but how should we explain the total mental health collapse of his enablers? Or those that erratically have some common sense, yet are power mad and vile i.e. McConnell? Or the millions of people addicted to the sound of rage and ridiculous unbelievable fabrications? I want to maintain my empathy for the little beings that they all once were and what might have happened to them, but a lot has happened to the rest of us and we haven’t turned into immoral, unconscious, racist, cruel, selfish monsters that harm others daily.

I do wonder if they're like that AZ AG who stated that he would vote for Trump should he run again-but he's vacillating, calling Trump a despot or similar.

How fast people's memories fade.

What they don't understand is that Trump's memory is not that bad, and he's vicious towards those who he feels have done him wrong, as witness reports of him contacting witnesses to remind them of his presence.

What is it with this asshole? What kind of golden fairy dust does he spread to make people follow him so blindly?

Can't anyone besides Democrats (and Liz Cheney, god bless her!) see the fraud he is? Don't they even believe that he's evil?

I don't dare ask. I might not like the answers.

Some of the larger background to consider:

The Authoritarian Personality "invented a set of criteria by which to define personality traits, ranked these traits and their intensity in any given person on what it called the 'F scale' (F for fascist)."[1] The personality type Adorno et al. identified can be defined by nine traits that were believed to cluster together as the result of childhood experiences. These traits include conventionalism, authoritarian submission, authoritarian aggression, anti-intraception, superstition and stereotypy, power and "toughness", destructiveness and cynicism, projectivity, and exaggerated concerns over sex.[2][3]

WTF IS THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT?

OK, I opined months ago to my long-suffering girlfriend (she has worked in a battered women's shelter for nine years) that (1) Trump will be indicted (2) DOJ in no hurry because the "rats keep leaving the sinking ship," (although these witnesses are in some cases not exactly rats and more like really delusional, well-meaning conservative careerists who have finally had enough of the treachery from Trump) ergo they keep supplying key useful evidence for various trials on various charges (3) "The wheels of justice grind slow, but they grind exceedingly fine, i.e., the DOJ wants evidence usable in court to sustain a conviction, it takes time.

Sarah Matthews in her white dress needs a job. 27 now, she was 21-22 when she joined the Trump campaign. Can you imagine going to rally after rally listening watching, day after day, month after month, year after year? Finally, when our capitol was being destroyed and her leader tweeted them on repeating the big lie, she had enough. Give me a break!

All these witnesses confound me. For that matter, anyone who voted for Trump in 2020 -- looking at you, Liz Cheney -- confounds me. They seem to see Trump's post-election behavior and 1/6 itself as an aberration, while I see it as the culmination of his administration. Unimaginable until it actually happened, but still, in hindsight, quite possibly inevitable.

It's satisfying to think of these people, these Trumpers, these Republicans, as uniquely deluded, but I've got this troubling hunch that they're nowhere close to unique. How many people, for instance, have worked for and done PR for the fossil-fuel companies over the decades knowing the damage they were doing but rationalizing it by saying we need the oil, we need the gas? How about the people in thrall to the gun industry who seem incapable of seeing where it's taking us?

It's unsettling to think that most of us have more in common with these people than we want to think.

I really do wish all of us would try hard to get out of the habit of referring to TFF's supporters as "Conservatives." they are most assuredly NOT. they're pseudo -Conservatives (if you wanna be NICE), otherwise they're Reactionaries. actual conservatives tend to be about negotiation and compromise. they are NOT about improvised "revolution" and throwing every rule book, beginning with the Constitution.

Trump has to held accountable by someone, historians, better yet Merrik Garland.
