I, for one, am compelled to read every article Lucian shares with us. Also, the community of commenters add even more thoughtful discourse. Lucian Truscott Newsletters are well-worth the price of a subscription.
That "community of commenters" is a big plus with me too. Online commentary hasn't been this good since Ta-Nehisi Coates was wrangling The Horde at the Atlantic.
Please tell your wife that I completely agree with her. I'm not exactly sure I would call it a "thrill-ride" because of the state of our country and the world you're commenting on, but, definitely I am reading something written by a "brilliant mind." I'm very, very grateful for your commentary. It helps enormously. Thanks for today's biographical info, too.
Here's my blurb: "Lucian makes me sound better informed than I have the time or background knowledge to be."
Fwiw, I wish you'd include among the samples "You can't rewrite history that is staring you in the face." I'm still sharing that one almost a year and a half after you posted it (5/21/21).
Fantastic. I hadn’t fully realized how much brilliant journalism you had sent my way. Totally outstanding insights, crafted and presented by a great intellect. I’ll be a subscriber as long as your work is available!
I shared the story about the wayward cadet going to see Monk, the benevolent bar tender, and other adventures. I got three people who immediately said they would said they would subscribe.
I really enjoy your reminiscences about New York City in the 60s. I'm a few years behind you and missed out on all the excitement. Reliving it vicariously through your excellent stories.
Your coverage of the current crazy state of the world is superb. I look forward to every notification that you wrote a new column.
Feel free to use this blurb to promote your excellent writing:
"Steals attention that should be directed at ME" ~ SusanA's dog
Hilarious!
You really should insert SusanA's dog's comment after Tracy's quote. Dissatisfied customer equal time.

Thanks. Fond memories and a pleasure to have a place to share them.
