Thanks, Lucien. I was able to watch most of it on Dropbox. Witnessing history firsthand in the making really makes an impact. What an assignment for a student journalist! and great start to your career. I remember the riot, in black and white photographs, and the moment seemed the same to me as the graphically horrid scene of injustice of the hosing and siccing dogs on black kids in the streets of Birmingham I saw on TV in the 60's. Now we are back to the loop of wondering how our society has de-evolved to rabidly want to inflict injustice to others. The sins of the fathers....
Thank you for making possible the YouTube access. I was there in Milford last Thursday evening and am now listening for the second time to your memories of the Stonewall riots. While I read your articles in the Village Voice, your additional commentary on Thursday was terrific. You, Mayor Sean, the audience and sponsors - all gave me a lot to reflect upon as we deal with politics today. Very grateful. ❤️🤍💙
Living in nyc in the summer of 1969, remember this vividly and took pride (no pun intended) in those kids who wouldn’t take shit anymore for who they were. Still do.
Lucien, you are amazing, and always have been. Grateful for you and your voice (oh no not another pun not intended)(well…) . Then AND now.
Still amuses me the word riot was associated with 2spirit people. Is the textbook definition of an oxymoron. If the press or po-po wanted an R-word, then it shoulda been Rejouissant and placed it in front of Stonewall.
