My first reaction was to say that I am thrilled that these wingnuts are running because they will never win. But wait. I said that about Trump in 2016! It is frightening that there are Americans who will vote for them.
Are you sure it was seventy-SEVEN million fucking morons? I thought it was closer to 74 million. And there were 81 million smarter, fully human voters who went for Biden.
I stand corrected: 74,223,369 people voted for Trump. (Whew, what a relief! I’d thought it was a lot.) I do not consider all of them, or necessarily even most, morons, fucking or celibate (for one example, there is a huge foreign language social media, media media, and uncorrected phonies of which we are totally unaware. I suggest this link to learn of it https://youtu.be/l5jtFqWq5iU), nor do I think the 81 million who voted for Biden were all smarter or more “fully human“(whatever that is) than me.
The popular vote doesn’t elect presidents, the Electoral College does. This, from the Washington Post, shows how close the votes that matter were:
While...Biden won the popular vote by more than four points and the electoral college 306 to 232, the result was much closer to flipping than that would suggest. Biden won the three decisive states — Arizona, Georgia and Wisconsin — by 0.6 percentage points or less...If you flip fewer than 43,000 votes across those three states, the electoral college is tied 269 to 269. In that case, Trump would probably have won, given that the race would be decided by one vote for each House delegation, of which Republicans control more.
[F]ewer than 32,000 votes could have flipped the five seats that Republicans would have needed to win the House majority... incumbent David Perdue (R-Ga.) lost the closest Senate race, fewer than 14,000 votes from winning. That would have foreclosed any chance Democrats had at winning the Senate.
So, 43,000 votes for president, 32,000 votes for the House and 14,000 votes for the Senate. Shifts of 0.6 percent for president, 2.2 percent for the House, and 0.3 percent for the Senate would have given the GOP the presidency, the Senate majority, and more House seats.
(That represents far fewer than 89,000 people, as many/most are the same voters)
Thank you for this concise overview of the current status of the trumpian nightmare. I learned some new things, chilling as they are. I always appreciate your research and writing! And of course, thanks to Tracy, too. I know you are a great team.
Politics often attract cranks, frauds, liars and fanatics, and they put on a show until things get serious and the public gives them the boot. In the 1930's congress was populated by rustics and then WW2 came and a much better crowd showed up. Once the rains come, and they will, and it's 95 in December, things will get serious. Extremism always defeats itself. JD Vance is especially odorous. He is intelligent and could do good, but he's been poisoned by the thrill of fame. Should he go to the senate, he will be ignored and be a harmless back bencher. Walker will probably flame out.
If Joe Bageant (Deer Hunting with Jesus; Rainbow Pie) were still with us, he would skewer JD Vance then hog-tie him for good measure, using nothing but words.
As long as Trump is in the American bloodstream the patient will be weak and threatened. He is a variant that currently has no cure and will mutate to stay alive and relevant.
Things MAY improve somewhat after his death. I think he's a "unicum"-- a unique genetic aberration that nobody can fully replicate or replace. The trouble is: he seems to be immortal. His lifestyle should have killed him years ago, but like the Energizer Battery Bunny, he just keeps going and going and going and going and going.....
None of the things stated, or those even more noxious, make the slightest difference to Trump's cult supporters. He famously said he could kill someone on fifth Avenue and nothing would happen. Watching, say, a Jordan Klepper video of MAGA-ists, makes that abundantly clear. Trump had the second-highest popular vote in the history of the American republic (Biden had somewhat more.) That was before the new laws making it hard for non-Democratic voters to register and/or get to the polling stations, of which there are fewer, open shorter hours. If, somehow, the Dem candidate gets more votes, newly-elected GOP voting officials will find ways to declare them invalid, or state legislatures will, under new laws. I have no doubt whatsoever that the American "democracy experiment" is over. The bad guys won. The Democratic Party let it happen to the greatest extent. They brought feathers to knife fights, and continue to do so, though it's too late to change, should they show any inclination to. Lucian is preaching to the choir. What's the point?
Why do the opposition, whether it be Democrats, or never-Trumpers, not pepper billboards and mail flyers with J.D. Vance’s previous quotes about Trump? And why not the same with McConnell, and Graham, who were so vocal in their disdain of Trump before? Why aren’t their own words used against them? Is there a legal reason?
When the only candidate on the ballot is a traitor and Putin's puppet to boot, seems to me Dems have plenty of ad material - if they'll just use it. And, with all those police reports and other illegalities of these "candidates," the billboards should be interesting enough to keep the sleepiest motorist awake.
And if he persists in claiming he's a Georgia resident, Texas should sue him for falsely claiming that homestead exemption and demand he pay all of it back with fines.

77 million of them in the last election. More, in the next.

As a former West Virginia nurse I found Hillbilly Elegy, , B.S.

It’s amazing how hate and vitriol, coupled with abject stupidity, provide a life-giving elixir to some!
That's been done, and they just seem to make him stronger. How about a hamberder with a certain kind of pill inside?
Georgia’s Marjorie Taylor Green still wins for THE WORST—she makes Herschel Walker’s psychological profile look harmless.

Trump sure does attract zombies and ghouls…
Thanks Lucian for telling it like it, unfortunately, is.
Let's not forget Tommy Tuberville.
And always remember to pronounce it TUBBER-vill-- nunna that fancy Frenchie pronunciation!
"And the people bowed and prayed
