Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Saudi Arabia, owners of LIV Golf, a Muslim country? How are they going to come here for all of Bigot Trump's Golfing events?

He hasn't thought of that, obviously. I believe his apparatus for thinking has been broken for quite some time.

I do believe we are seeing Trump starting to fray at the edges. I've been wrong about so much concerning Trump and Trumpers but he's escalating irrationality by every few hours. New reports of Smith's expanding investigations into spots he knows he put heavy overturn efforts in and he is beginning to have that sleep deprivation look. Expand full comment

He doesn't know how to be otherwise. Just think what it would be to live Trump's life, always in a crouching ready to pounce mode. Never trusting anyone. Always pitting people against each other for your own amusement.

Expand full comment

"Amusement" is stretching it, I admit amusement parks cover a wide range of offerings, for example, and people are amused by various "stupid people tricks," but Trump's glowering, smirking, robotic visage has never yet cracked a smile in any video or photos I've seen that wasn't malicious, sadistic, gloating over someone else's real or hypothetical pain and suffering.

"Never trusting anyone. Always pitting people against each other." I think he would do that for its own sake, do you see what I mean? That he would expend the psychic energy whether he enjoyed seeing it or not, as a compulsion, and "irresistible impulse." *

Why not stop right there, as it isn't necessary to dignify Trump's pernicious, relentless viciousness by humanizing it as something we would recognized as

being amused, that's too easy on him, as I view it.

* Maybe it's because I watched this film last week and it is giving rise to some searching reflections on the "irresistible impulse" component of tests for establishing a criminal defense of temporary insanity:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anatomy_of_a_Murder

Anatomy of a Murder is a 1959 American courtroom drama[2] film produced and directed by Otto Preminger. The screenplay by Wendell Mayes was based on the 1958 novel of the same name written by Michigan Supreme Court Justice John D. Voelker under the pen name of Robert Traver. Voelker based the novel on a 1952 murder case in which he was the defense attorney.[3]

The film stars James Stewart, Lee Remick, Ben Gazzara, Eve Arden, George C. Scott, Arthur O'Connell, Kathryn Grant, Brooks West (Arden's husband), Orson Bean, and Murray Hamilton. The judge was played by Joseph N. Welch, a real-life lawyer famous for dressing down Joseph McCarthy during the Army–McCarthy hearings. It has a musical score by Duke Ellington, who also appears in the film. It has been described by Michael Asimow, UCLA law professor and co-author of Reel Justice: The Courtroom Goes to the Movies (2006), as "probably the finest pure trial movie ever made".[4]

In 2012, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".[5][6][7] *****

It's as if Donald J. Trump has no idea at all, no direct, non-inferential, first person experience of being amused by a joke, a witticism, a strange belief founded on nothing, the antics of cats and dogs, you name it, it's beyond his realm of comprehension.

I came from a dysfunctional background. It always amazes me how naive people remain re: narcissism, sociopathy, addictions. TRump is SO OBVIOUSLY has a low IQ, and a severe personality disorder. If it weren’t for the pack of lawyers he keeps on tab, he couldn’t function in real estate investment, his alleged bread & butter. It’s a real shame so many Americans equate devious, spiteful, vindictive behavior with “cleverness” because it is wrapped in wealth. Having no internalized, moral compass is the prerequisite for right-wing lunacy. Let’s remember: They will never make sense. WE cannot solve this through psychoanalysis. We can’t “cure” or reason with them. Trump traitors need to be handled like rabid dogs: Bring down a deterrent, a hammer of justice. This society has been too lenient with its corrupt politicians.

Expand full comment

I believe that what he really, truly lacks is a soul.

Consciences come from having a soul, a interior where your best and worst instincts are honed by the good and bad you've been brought up to work with.

A soul makes you think about what you're saying and doing.

Lacking one makes you a shell of human meat running on instinct and emotions only all the time.

I once read an article in the NYT that discussed Trump-and it noted that Trump never has internal thoughts-because as the author said, "It would disturb him."

I well know that. That was a very paranoid stage in our history. I just want Traitor Tot to get some of his own medicine. He asked the IRS to investigate the two FBI agents, Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, who were investigating him (imitating Nixon). He wanted the Justice Department to prosecute his "enemies." Tot is the most un-American of all our Presidents. I suppose we could debate who was worse, Trump or Nixon. I vote for the Orange Pustule as the worst ever.

Personally, I will never be able to consider him as having been our “President“. There will forever be a void and an asterisk next to 45th in my mind. He has disgraced and dishonored the office on a level that is unimaginable. Even Dubyah seems to have somehow redeemed himself over time and his poor vocabulary & ability to structure sentences almost come off as quaint now. I can only attribute this twisted sentiment to the horror show and psyche bashing we have been enduring from the orange comb-over on an almost-daily basis since the primaries of 2016.
