We are moving too. Our home got listed yesterday, and our real estate agent is taking the first potential buyer on a tour. I’m sitting in my truck in the parking lot of our neighborhood grocery store, waiting to be able to go back to the house.
“ Moving is not going to be cheap, ”
Holy cow, you are not kidding. I’ve never seen money disappear so quickly from my bank account. Cleaners, construction and repair people to make the house look nice, and on and on.
This is such a warm, comforting photo of a room filled with life and activity and love. The dog’s toys under the furniture, the shoes lined up carefully, the house plants with remembrances of bloom. May you continue this beauty in your new space. I know you will.
Wishing you, Tracy, and Ruby well!!!! I’m moving away as well. Sold the house. I don’t know where yet, but the grand tour starts tomorrow. Move June 1.
We’re moving too. After 17 years on the Mardi Gras parade route, I gave into my husband’s whining. Where did all this crap come from? I swore after Katrina I wouldn’t accumulate this much junk.
It’s all good! Especially as you are upsizing. I’ve tried downsizing without really downsizing and it’s not easy. Still looking at boxes of books and pictures I cannot bring myself to sort through. Hoping your movers know how to move Traci’s paintings with great care. It’s an art, pun intended. You might want to move them yourselves in a u-haul, along with your special things. Unsolicited advice. Good luck!
When I "downsized" fourteen years ago, I gave away 23 boxes of books and put most of my furniture in an auction house on consignment. Now, I have a storage unit piled high with stuff I haven't seen in those 14 years and a house groaning under the weight of books and more stuff. It's like things procreate overnight when I'm sleeping. Where does it all come from is right, as Nancy says above!
I'm very excited for you folks. You both deserve the best surroundings you can provide yourselves. Change can invigorate, as I found out when I moved to the Jersey Shore twenty years ago.
Good luck‼️

I did the same thing, but had my cheerful, confident and cozy elephantine Labrador with me.
Congratulations to you, Roland! Now, you make THREE friends in two days!
Where are you moving to, Roland? Hopefully, things go smoothly!

Same reaction here -- along with "it sure is great to have an artist in the family!"
I thought the same thing. What a delightful space!

Congratulations. Best of luck in your new home!
Good luck in Milford. My late (British) friends, Adam & Joanna rebuilt the water-powered cider mill & shops.
Wishing you both much health and happiness in your new home!
I've been there. It's a beautiful town and lovely surrounding landscape. Wishing you the best.
Blessings to you both!
